But part of the son's life was how his father's work affected his family, writes Adam Nimoy in My Incredibly Wonderful, Miserable Life. "Since the beginning, people have been coming up to Dad from every direction wanting something. Like his father, Nimoy has struggled with alcoholism. After being married for eighteen years, he divorced. Nimoy writes about the failure of the marriage and the pain it brought which ranged from hostility from his daughter, to missing living with his two children and being part of their everyday lives.
Nimoy has finally forgiven his father and stopped resenting him for past behaviors. "I've never had much luck arguing with him," said Nimoy. "Have you ever argued with a pop culture icon? And of his own skills at being a father? Nimoy suspects that his son Jonah complains about him in therapy. "What's up with that?" he asks.
