Shatner Answers Fan Questions

Like many of his fans, William Shatner wishes some of the technology of Star Trek was available today.

As reported by The BBC, Shatner would like a faster commute to work. When asked which Star Trek "toy" he would like to have today, he said, "I think having a transporter would beat the heavy traffic here in Los Angeles."

While some of the questions were serious, some were a bit on the frivolous side. When asked what made Kirk such an intergalactic stud and how the fan asking the question could replicate that success, Shatner said, "Unfortunately, you can't replicate his success. You need to have all my equipment."

Shatner felt that Star Trek was more than just a TV show, helping to break taboos and bring down boundaries. "Yes, I do think 'Star Trek' had influence in that area," he said. "It also apparently influenced a lot of people in making serious decisions about their lives."

Another fan asked if the womanizing, whiskey drinking and cigar smoking Denny Crane was William Shatner, Shatner answered that "All of William Shatner is there, plus there's much more untapped."
