"Cogenitor" provided a ratings upswing for Enterprise last night, earning a 4.0 rating/6 share in the overnights and easily finishing ahead of the WB's Dawson's Creek.

In the first week of May sweeps, "Cogenitor" finished two-tenths of a ratings point higher and one share up from last week's "The Breach". But these numbers are still below those of "Canamar" in February, which brought in a 4.5/7, and well below last year's May sweeps episodes, none of which received less than a 4.4/7.

FOX's American Idol easily won the 8 p.m. hour with an average 11.6 rating/19 share, enabling FOX to win the nightly ratings as well. UPN averaged a 3.6/5 in metered markets, ending the night ahead of The WB with 3.5/5.

UPN received some good news in the 9 p.m. timeslot in that The Twilight Zone held 83% of the lead-in audience from Enterprise, receiving ratings of 3.3/5, only slightly below Angel which managed a 3.6/5. The highest ratings during that hour were for The West Wing with guest star Matthew Perry, which exceeded its season average with an 11.1/16.

The overnight ratings can be found at Zap2It here. Full ratings will be available later in the week.
