'Galactica' a Go?

Though the Sci Fi Channel has given no official word, comments from actors involved with the production indicate that former Trek scribe Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica will become a television series later this year.

Cinescape reported that actor Aaron Douglas posted on a bulletin board that Sci Fi had ordered 13 episodes of the new series, all of which would feature his character, Chief Petty Officer Tyrol.

Douglas added that he learned on the afternoon of January 30, with only minutes left on the option on his contract for the series, that the show would move ahead. He also said that he had spoken to Grace Park, who plays Boomer, and learned that her contract had been picked up as well.

Meanwhile SyFy Portal reported on a similar comment by Jamie Bamber, who plays Apollo.

"As far as I know, they still have not decided when they will shoot, or even how many episodes other than a minimum of six," Bamber said. "That all has to be decided next week."

Until the Sci Fi Channel makes an official announcement, any news forthcoming about the show's future must be considered tentative. There is no schedule in place yet for series production or broadcast.
