DS9 Season 2 DVD Details Released

'DS9 Season 2 DVD Set' - courtesy Amazon.com, copyright Paramount PicturesOnline retailer Amazon.com recently published the specifications for the DVD box set of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's second season.

Currently set for release in North America on April 1, 2003, the seven-disc set includes all twenty-six episodes of the show's second season. The episodes are presented in full-frame format with Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0 audio tracks.

Highlights of the space station show's sophomore year include the three-part season premiere, the return of Kor, Koloth and Kang in 'Blood Oath,' the first DS9 visit to the mirror universe in 'Crossover,' and the season finale, 'The Jem'Hadar,' which set the stage for the show's long-running Dominion arc.

The set also contains several featurettes:

  • New Frontiers: The Story of Deep Space Nine - Includes interviews with creators Rick Berman and Michael Piller and writers Ira Steven Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe.
  • Michael Westmore's Aliens: Season Two - A look at season two's alien creations ("from Trill symbiotes to Cardassian voles") from makeup maestro Michael Westmore.
  • Deep Space Nine Sketchbook: Season Two - Illustrators Rick Sternbach and Jim Martin on creating the look of season two.
  • Crew Dossier: Jadzia Dax - Interviews with Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax) and producer Ira Steven Behr.
  • New Station, New Ships - Includes interviews with visual effects wizards Dan Curry and Robert Legato and senior illustrator Rich Sternbach on the space station, runabouts and Cardassian warships.
  • Section 31 Hidden Files
