Face Off To Feature Trek Makeup

1 min read

Tonight on Face Off, three Star Trek makeup artists responsible for Klingon makeup from Star Trek: The Motion Picture through Star Trek Into Darkness are competing on Face Off.

Face Off, a “competition/elimination series” features “special effects make-up artists” who “participate in elaborate challenges for a grand prize and the honor of being Hollywood’s next great effects artist.”

The makeup artists include Ve Neill (Star Trek The Motion Picture), Michael Westmore (Star Trek: The Next Generation), and Neville Page (Star Trek Into Darkness).

Their challenge is to “take the retro aliens that they made for the foundation challenge and evolve their design to a more modern aesthetic that you might see in one of today’s sci-fi film franchises.”

Face Off airs today, September 1, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.

  1. The article title is misleading, no? The show is not going to feature “Trek Makeup”, but rather have makeup artists who have previously worked on Trek.

  2. Will we see Mr. Neill and Mr. Westmore tag-team flaying Mr. Page? No, don’t talk to Kang about the effects budget, Kang has a way to do it on the cheap.

  3. Yep. Some of the makeups were inspired by Star Trek-era makeups but the designs themselves were not Star Trek themed. It was really cool to see Jonathan Frakes and Michael Dorn as gusts though.
