Even though Anton Yelchin was passed over for the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man, he may yet appear in the film, which is due out in 2012.
Rumor has it that Yelchin is up for the role of Harry Osborn, which was previously played by James Franco in the original series.
Did Yelchin, who was on the short list for the role of Peter Parker, impress the producers enough during that process to be considered for another role in the movie?
Time will tell.

Working on both independent and action-filled blockbusters, Anton Yelchin (Chekov) has been fortunate in his roles.
While fans enjoy lots of action in a movie, it’s the characters that hold and catch their attention. “In the best sort of spectacle action movies, character comes first and that’s why you buy the action,” said Yelchin. “I got lucky with [Terminator: Salvation and Star Trek XI] because there was a lot of character work to be done. Terminator was challenging and interesting and definitely there was a lot of work to do, which is great because we don’t often expect to go into these movies and have challenging work to do. But I was lucky with Star Trek as well because it was the same thing. There was this whole other character to work with, different, totally different, different physicality, more joyous and light, but the same idea. They were both challenging.”

Four of the Star Trek XI actors explained how they were initially attracted by the Star Trek XI script or their specific characters and what they did to prepare for their roles.
As reported by Firstshowing.net, Bruce Greenwood was attracted to taking on the role of Pike because of the problem his character faced. “Well he’s got this tremendous dilemma of having to…having an instinct about somebody who to all appearances is going to let him down but his gut is to follow his instinct in spite of the way the kid’s behaving,” said Greenwood. “So there’s a tremendous father-son dynamic to that dilemma. That’s what appealed to me.” (more…)
