Wheaton was last seen in The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary episode of the show. In that episode, Sheldon (Jim Parsons), who resented Wheaton for not appearing at a sci-fi convention in 1995, faced off against Wheaton in a trading card competition, in which Wheaton used a psychological ploy to get Shelton to let him win the competition.

According to TV Guide Magazine, “Geeks everywhere will be happy [to] hear that Star Trek star Wil Wheaton will be returning to hang out with TV’s hippest nerds on The Big Bang Theory.”

“We were very excited when Wil Wheaton appeared as Sheldon’s nemesis, and right now we’re looking to see if he can come back to give Sheldon an opportunity to settle the score,” said The Big Bang Theory Executive Producer and Co-Creator Bill Prady. “Fingers crossed that we can do that, I think an arch enemy is someone who appears from time to time.”

Wheaton is looking forward to returning and playing a not-so-nice version of himself. “Even though my personal motto is ‘Don’t Be A Dick,’ I’ve wanted to play an arch enemy for pretty much my entire career, and I love that Bill described me that way, because I was kind of hoping I’d earn that position in the Big Bang canon,” he said.

Work on the episode begins on the twenty-fourth, and the show will be taped on March 2.

Several of Stewart’s co-stars, including LeVar Burton, Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner tweeted regarding Stewart’s knighthood, and mixed with the congratulations was a little teasing.

“Congratulations Patrick, on your Knighthood…!” said Burton.

Wheaton found out the news from Burton’s tweet. “You know what’s even more wonderful for me than finding out that Patrick is going to be knighted? Finding out from @levarburton,” he said.

“Hip hip hooray! Congratulations to my friend, Patrick Stewart,” said Spiner. “I can’t believe he’s being made King of England!”

“Guess I wasn’t completely correct about Patrick,” Spiner said a day later. “Apparently he’ll be King of Scotland, Wales and North Ireland, as well.”

“Wait, you mean he’s not going to be K…oh,” tweeted Spiner a half-hour later. “Well, a Knight is good too, right? Hooray for Sir Patrick! He still lives with the Queen, right?”

Fans of War of the Worlds are in for a special Trek treat, as an airing of a classic radio show featuring several well-known Star Trek actors is available this weekend.

The L.A. Theater Works has posted their broadcast of War of the Worlds, which features Leonard Nimoy, Gates McFadden, Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner. This War of the Worlds broadcast was directed by John de Lancie.

In addition to War of the Worlds, one can listen to Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World which follows a scientific expedition deep into the Amazon jungle and back to the time of cavemen and dinosaurs.

Finally, there is an all-new “Question and Answer” session with Leonard Nimoy, recorded before a studio audience.

The Big Bang Theory is a situation-comedy about two male twenty-something Caltech prodigies. Leonard, played by Johnny Galecki, is an experimental physicist, and Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, is a theoretical physicist.

Although highly intelligent, the geeks don’t know how to interact with women, but that changes when Penny, an attractive blonde waitress played by Kaley Cuoco, becomes their new neighbor and Leonard develops feelings for her.

Sometimes, when making a television show or filming a movie, the unexpected happens. “We were shooting a bunch of footage for the security cams where you see Chaos [Wheaton] outside,” Wheaton explained. “There’s that scene where you see Chaos standing outside Sophie’s apartment building, getting ready to take those flowers in, and we were shooting it in an actual apartment building, on a real street, with people walking around and somehow this woman got past our PAs.”

“She was going into the building and she walked right up to me and wanted to see these flowers and who were they for, and could she smell them, and you know where did they come from, and I thought, well let’s see, if this was really happening, this guy would stand here and he would be charming and he would engage her and talk with her, and answer her questions and then just send her on her way to be as unremarkable and unmemorable as possible,” said Wheaton. “So that’s what I did and played that out with her, and then she left and I looked around and went right into the building behind her.”

Wheaton enjoyed the unexpected encounter. “It’s very rare that you get an opportunity to have something completely unexpected happen and just play with it and incorporate it as part of the reality of the show,” he said. “Back in the old days, if we were filming on film, they would have cut the cameras immediately because it’s just too expensive to keep the film rolling. But we’re shooting on a Red camera, so that wasn’t even an issue at all. And it was a really fun, really memorable moment. In a filming experience that was just wall-to-wall awesome, that was one of the things that is really going to stay with me for a very long time.”

As reported by PopEater, Takei, one of the approximately eighteen-thousand gay couples who married before voters passed Proposition 8 (which banned same-sex marriage) said that the California Supreme Court’s ruling to allow some marriages to stand meant that they had “decided to be indecisive,” and that the ruling would “ultimately be condemned by history.” “It was a ruling that doesn’t resolve anything,” Takei explained. “because there is still inequality. It’s like [George Orwell's Animal Farm,] some pigs are more equal than other pigs. We’re more equal than some of the other gays and lesbians.”

Other celebrities were also upset by the ruling, including Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Wil Wheaton. “California,” he said, “where everyone is equal under the law except for those who aren’t.”

Meyer on Writing and Moviemaking

As reported by The Daily Iowan, Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek VI, The Undiscovered Country,) spoke about how he got into writing. “I never dreamed of becoming a writer or making movies, because I didn’t know they were made,” he explained. “I thought they were dreams you could pay to see.”

A class in playwriting at the University of Iowa started him on the road to becoming a professional writer. “Iowa jump-started everything for me,” he said. “It was the blank slate I needed.”

Today’s fans have different taste in movies, according to Meyer. “Nobody wants to see movies about people,” he said. “The world is in such deep shit, we’d rather just see slasher flicks. Anything but more reality.”

Meyer has a memoir coming out in August that will be of interest to Star Trek fans, The View From the Bridge: Memories of Star Trek and a Life in Hollywood.

Star Trek XII Rumor

With the success of Star Trek XI, a sequel is probable and a rumor of a possible story element has been posted, courtesy of Movieweb.

According to Bruce Greenwood (Christopher Pike,) who spoke to Movieweb by telephone, Greenwood discussed the possible future of Captain Pike and has created a backstory for the character, which he said that J.J. Abrams hopes to use in Star Trek XII. This future, according to Greenwood, will not include a permanent presence in the wheelchair where fans last saw him.

Greenwood hinted that Pike’s personal story would be tied into Captain Robert April, the original Captain of the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Animated Series.

Treat this as a rumor, but an intriguing one nonetheless.

Wil Wheaton: Thumbs Up for Star Trek XI

Suicide Girls has posted Wil Wheaton’s thoughts concerning Star Trek XI.

“It was awesome. I loved it,” said Wheaton. He went on to explain why he loved Star Trek XI and part of the reason was J.J. Abrams. “J.J. Abrams may not be one of us in the convention-going sense, but I think he has something in common with us, and I think it’s a big reason why Star Trek made so many of us so very, very happy.”

Philly Star Trek: The Exhibition

Fox 29 has posted two short videos showing fans who plan to attend Star Trek: The Exhibition while it is at The Franklin in Philadelphia what they can expect to see, including uniforms and select items from Star Trek XI.

As reported by Comics Continuum, A new photo for the Family Guy “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episode was released today, showing the Next Generation crewmembers standing in a transporter with Stewie standing in front of them.

According to the episode description, “The Griffin family heads to the annual Quahog Star Trek convention, but Stewie blows a fuse when he doesn’t get a chance to ask his favorite Next Generation cast members any questions. He devises a plan, builds a transporter and beams the entire cast to his bedroom so they can spend a fun-filled day together in Quahog.”

The main cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation voiced their respective characters. Not All Dogs Go to Heaven airs on Sunday, March 29.

As reported by MTV, the new featurette, introduced by Zachary Quinto and running just over a minute in length, is basically a recap of what has already been seen before, with the exception of a shot with J.J. Abrams on what appears to be the bridge of another starship, and a short glimpse of Kirk and Spock fighting each other as seen on a monitor. There are also brief comments from several of the Star Trek XI actors in the short clip.The clip can be seen here.

The second featurette shows some of the same scenes from the film and also offers actor commentary, but then Wil Wheaton is brought in briefly to answer questions about Star Trek XI and Star Trek in general. Amongst the questions asked are “Why are Kirk and Spock fighting?” and “Is (the clip of Kirk making love to a woman) that supposed to be Kirk and Uhura?”
