Trek Fans Wed At Vegas Trek Con

Star Trek fans Mark Restucci, 47, and Amy Campbell, 49, are the first Trek fans to ever tie the knot at the annual Official Star Trek Convention held in Las Vegas.

The couple was married August 1, in a ceremony that recreated the Next Generation wedding of Riker and Troi.

Two women, who met on an Internet forum that one had set up to discuss Star Trek, were recently married in a Star Trek-themed civil ceremony.

Fourteen years ago, Margaret Wood decided to create a place online to talk Trek. “We (Anita Bayliss and I) met because of Star Trek,” she explained. “About fourteen years ago I had set up a forum on the internet about the show and we started chatting through that.”


New U.K. Television Show Casting For Sci-Fi Themed Wedding

A brand new series for Sky Living will offer two couples (U.K. residents only), with brilliant exciting ideas about their wedding day but not the budget to match, a sci-fi themed wedding.

The couples will receive £25,000 for their big day and all they have to do in return if chosen for the TV series is to “work in harmony together to plan an identical wedding day.”

Trek Fans Wed In Vulcan

Star Trek fans James McDonald and Kate Olaso were wed in Vulcan, Alberta, Canada last weekend at the spaceship-styled Vulcan Tourism and Trek Station.

The forty-one-year-old McDonald is a resident of nearby Calgary, and has been a Trek fan since boyhood. His friend suggested that the pair have a Star Trek-themed wedding in Vulcan. “It was really fun,” said Olaso. “When we started dating, he brought me here to a convention.”


Trek Wedding Winners Wed

Kyle Sessions and Nancy Kerr, winners of the Ultimate Star Trek Wedding from the Tech Museum in San Jose, renewed their vows on the Bridge of the USS Enterprise earlier this month.

The couple, originally married in 2004, wore Trek costumes for their ceremony. Kerr was dressed in a red original series dress, and Sessions wore Sciences blue.

Star Trek Wedding Prize Leaves Couple Beaming

Justin Gruba and Alissa Mellis of Troy, Michigan were the lucky winners of the Detroit Science Center’s “Star Trek: The Exhibition Ultimate Wedding Package Contest” after winning 35% of the online voting for the contest.

As reported by, the couple won a June wedding on the exhibit’s recreated USS Enterprise Bridge, which includes a reception for two hundred guests at the museum. Gruba and Mellis also won a honeymoon at the Star Trek honeymoon suite at the MGM Grand Detroit. (more…)
