George Takei isn’t alone when it comes to his dislike of Star Trek‘s William Shatner.
Star Trek: Voyager‘s Garrett Wang used to be a fan of the man best-known for playing Captain Kirk until an unfortunate meeting with Shatner changed his mind.
Star Trek: Voyager might have been a serious show, with a starship crew lost in the Delta Quadrant desperately trying to get back home, but for the actors portraying that crew, being on the Voyager set was more akin to a being in a comedy club.
Garrett Wang, who played the quiet, unassuming Harry Kim, enjoyed working with his co-actors and enjoyed their brand of humor. “When I look back upon the experience, what stands out most are the times we Voyager actors shared on the set when the camera wasn’t rolling,” said Wang. “I’ve always said that if we kept the cameras rolling between takes, and broadcast that footage as a half-hour reality show, it would be the highest rated show on television!”
For those who were unable to attend the latest FedCon, held in Germany, new videos featuring Star Trek actors have been posted online.
The videos feature Star Trek: Voyager‘s Robert Duncan McNeill and Garrett Wang, and Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Scott Bakula.
Saturday, October 16th saw a reunion of three Star Trek: The Next Generation stars, while actors from Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise took the stage on Sunday, October 17th at Hollywood Xpo in Universal City, California.
William Shatner (Captain Kirk) asked Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) to guest star on his new sitcom $#*! My Dad Says, while Jeri Ryan reminisced about her time in the infamous Seven of Nine catsuit on Star Trek: Voyager on the third day of Creation Entertainment’s Las Vegas Star Trek convention.
In addition to hosting over seventy Star Trek celebs at their annual Las Vegas Star Trek Convention, running this week from Thursday through Sunday at the Las Vegas Hilton, Creation Entertainment is gunning for the Guiness World Record for the “largest gathering of people dressed as Star Trek characters.”
Next month’s DragonCon will feature seven Star Trek actors, including William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
Dragon*Con runs from Friday, September 4-Monday, September 7 and the TrekTrak programming includes three Star Trek Captains. In addition to Shatner, Patrick Stewart (Picard) and Kate Mulgrew (Janeway) are scheduled to appear.
The other Star Trek actors are: Garrett Wang (Kim,) John Billingsley (Phlox,) Anthony Montgomery (Mayweather) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock.)
