The SFX Blog Awards are where fans “celebrate the best that SF and fantasy fan-driven and insider-developed internet activity has to offer.”

Although the awards are called the SFX Blog Awards, other non-blog-type sites are included in the list of nominees.

The six categories include: Best SF Podcast, Best Fan Community, Best SF News Blog, Best Literary Blog, Best Franchise Specific Site and Best Celebrity Blog.

TrekBBS was nominated in the Best Fan Community category, going up against Gallifrey Base, Whedonesque and GateWorld. Winners will be determined by number of votes received.

Star Trek fans are assured by the reporter that the DVD release will offer a special cut for them, in which an extra three hours of footage will be added, in which characters stand around debating the merits of saving the Andorian ambassador from the surface of a planet.
