Greenwood In Super 8

Bruce Greenwood, Star Trek XI‘s Captain Christopher Pike, can be seen in another Abrams-directed film, Super 8.

But Greenwood, who is credited as “Cooper,” won’t be easy to spot. This is because the visual appearance of his character, the unhappy alien of Super 8, was computer-generated.

A new Super 8 Poster has been released as well as a six-minute preview video.

The clips shows a group of children at the train station waiting for a train to arrive so that they can film a scene in their amateur movie with the train going past them, but their filmmaking is interrupted by some real life action.

With the release of Super 8 due next month, new clips of the J.J. Abrams’ movie have been emerging, giving movie fans an idea of what is in store for them.

The latest clip shows a train barreling down the railroad tracks towards a pick-up truck which is in its path.

For J.J. Abrams, it might have been easier to work on a film using aliens from another planet than to work with inexperienced children on Super 8.

When it came to Super 8, some of the children had never been cast before, which was somewhat daunting for Abrams.

A new trailer for J.J. AbramsSuper 8 movie, due out in June, is now available.

Super 8, starring Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning is the story, set in 1979, of “a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.”

In the new trailer, a group of children making a movie are witness to a train wreck. As a result of the wreck, the train derails and a special, dangerous cargo is released and a small Ohio town will never be the same again.

Abrams Super 8 Super Bowl Ad Debut

Details about J.J. Abrams‘s Super 8 have been few and far between, but fans interested in the movie that will be released on June 10 got to see a thirty-second commercial for it during last night’s Super Bowl.

If Abrams had his way, details would stay under wraps, but he realized that with plenty of competition from other movies this summer, it was time to open up a bit. “Look, I feel we need a little bit of a coming-out party because we are up against massive franchises and brands and most people don’t know what Super 8 means,” Abrams said. “We’re a complete anomaly in a summer of huge films … and we don’t want to be so silent or coy that people don’t care or don’t hear about it.”

Recently, YouTube user wblankenship found out that J.J. Abrams’/Steven Spielberg Super 8 was being filmed in his hometown of Weirton, West Virginia, so he went down to have a look at the set during filming and has posted a six minute YouTube video of the filming.

Not many details have emerged about Super 8, but it is known that while using their Super 8 camera, a group of kids find and film something unexpected, alien life.


Rumor Mill: Abrams Pitching New Drama

Fans of Lost‘s Linus and Locke will be happy if rumors of a new show being pitched by J.J. Abrams, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec are true.

The trio is pitching a comedic drama to the networks which would have Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn playing former black-ops agents.

Fans of Star Trek XI‘s J.J. Abrams and Buffy The Vampire Slayer‘s Josh Whedon got to hear about the duo’s recent projects, and their thoughts on the current 3-D craze.

Although Abrams didn’t touch upon Star Trek XII, he did talk about Super 8 and the finale of Lost. Abrams explained that the inspiration for Super 8 came from working on restoring earlier works of Steven Spielberg, which led to Abrams calling Spielberg with a story pitch.
