Stewart To Race For Charity

Sir Patrick Stewart will be taking part in a celebrity racing event in July.

The Grand Prix Silverstone Classic weekend on July 21 will feature Stewart and other celebrities such as Brendan Cole, Chef Heston Blumenthal, Brian Johnson, Tony Hirst, Chemmy Alcott and ex-England footballer Steve Bull.

The Next Generation Cast Calgary Expo Reunion

Last weekend, fans attending the Calgary Expo in Calgary, Canada were able to see the entire cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, plus surprise guest John de Lancie.

Over fifty thousand fans attended the weekend event, with the highlight of the convention being the TNG:EXPOsed event which took place Saturday evening.

Five Trek Captains To Appear Together

For Star Trek fans in the UK, October will prove to be an exciting month as all five Star Trek television captains; William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula, will be appearing on the stage at Destination Star Trek London.

Destination Star Trek London organizers claim that their event will be the “first official Star Trek live event in the UK for ten years.”

Stewart To Host Awards Show

Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Sir Patrick Stewart is set to host the Peabody Awards this May.

“Patrick Stewart, the first actor to host the Peabody Awards Presentation Luncheon, brings a career that perfectly illustrates the breadth of the Peabody Award,” said Horace Newcomb, director of the Peabody Awards at the University of Georgia.

Stewart: Still Plenty To Do

Sir Patrick Stewart may be seventy one years old, but he’s not even close to slowing down when it comes to acting or to living an active life.

Part of why he can keep going is his good health. Stewart is in better shape than many men much younger. “I remember years and years ago, working in rep in Sheffield or Liverpool, I heard an interview with Olivier, where he said that if you’re serious about acting Shakespeare, you’ve got to be as fit as an athlete,” said Stewart. “That really made an impression on me. I’d like to go on doing what I’m doing for as long as possible, and all the great roles, well, they’re marathons, not sprints.”

TNG Cast To Reunite At Calgary

Stewart: Wants Film Career

Patrick Stewart is taking a break from the theater to pursue roles in the film industry.

Stewart began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company, but moved on to television and movies, including his seven years on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and his roles on the X-Men movies.

“I felt it would be a good time to see if I could kick-start a film career,” said Stewart. “I never really had a film career, I had a franchise career, so I’ve made a decision to take eighteen months off and see what happens.”

Stewart: I Thought Trek Would Fail

In a new interview with the BBC, Sir Patrick Stewart admits that he didn’t think that Star Trek: The Next Generation would be successful as a series.

This belief was based on what he heard from those in Hollywood, including his own agent, when Stewart expressed concern about being signed to a long-term contract for the show.

Trek Nation To Debut Tomorrow

Airing tomorrow, November 30, on the Science Channel at 8 PM, Trek Nation, produced and narrated by Rod Roddenberry, is a documentary about Gene Roddenberry, Star Trek, and the people involved with Star Trek over the years.

In making Trek Nation, Rod Roddenberry interviewed those who worked with his father over the years, including industry professionals who knew Gene Roddenberry, family friends, and Star Trek fans.

Trek Fan Proposal Endorsed By Trek Actor

A Star Trek fan proposed to his girlfriend last week, and a certain Star Trek: The Next Generation actor chimed in at the end with his response to the proposal.

Zach Muhn and his girlfriend Tabitha were at the Wizard World Chicago Comic Con last week when Muhn decided to pop the question. He dropped down onto his knees and proposed to her, beginning with “I love you so much,” and finishing with “Will you marry me?”

New Whalen Patrick Stewart Convention Poster

Fans of Tom Whalen‘s art who have purchased a ticket for this autumn’s Vulcan Events to be held in the Orlando, Florida area, will also have the option of pre-ordering a new poster commemorating Sir Patrick Stewart‘s appearance at the convention. Whalen was the artist of Mondo’s most recent offering, the Let That Be Your Last Battlefield poster that debuted earlier today.

As is usually the case with the Mondo poster offerings, the Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, offered earlier today, sold out within an hour. That poster was artist Whalen’s second poster in the series; the first one was based on the original series Journey to Babel episode. The Stewart poster is expected to sell out quickly as well.

Eight Days Until The Captains Airs

The world television premiere of William Shatner‘s The Captains documentary is next Friday.

Photos, clips and interview excerpts are beginning to emerge ahead of next week’s Shatnerpalooza extravaganza, which will air on EPIX and kick off next Thursday with Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet. Sir Patrick Stewart To Voice New Game

Sir Patrick Stewart will be participating in The War of the Worlds, a game based on the H.G. Wells novel.

The War of the Worlds game will be coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade. The game is a “is a dark and breathtaking new vision inspired by the classic H.G. Wells novel, retold as a single player, 2D action-adventure.”

Stewart: Super Sewer Stinks

Patrick Stewart has joined a campaign against a Thames Water proposal for a twenty-mile super sewer.

The tunnel through Chambers Wharf would cost £3.6, but the cost is not the problem, the location is. Local residents are against the possible impacts of the new super sewer.

Shatner Receives Honorary Degree

McGill University alumnus William Shatner was presented with an honorary Doctorate of Letters today at the spring convocation ceremonies at McGill.

The eighty-year-old Shatner graduated from McGill forty-nine years ago, with a BA in commerce.
