For fans eagerly awaiting the forthcoming Star Trek video game, Paramount Pictures and Namco Bandai have released a new trailer and screenshots from the game.

Star Trek features a story written by Marianne Krawczyk in collaboration with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman in which “players control both Kirk and Spock in a sweeping journey of epic proportions across unexplored planets and enemy battleships with the latest 23rd century weapons and gear.”


Star Trek Game Introduces The New Gorn

Several days ago, the villain for the forthcoming Star Trek video game was announced, and today, players can see what the alien will look like.

One of the more painful aspects of the original series episode Arena, in which the Gorn was first seen, was the rather fake-looking Gorn, but in the new Star Trek game, the Gorn looks like a creature to be feared, not scorned.


Star Trek Game Details Emerge

New details for the Namco Bandai Star Trek video game have emerged; including names of actors who will voice the characters, pictures of scenes taken from the game, and which villain will be faced by Captain Kirk and his crew.

For Trek fans, the villain will be one which was seen on an episode of the original series.


Trek-Who Comic Crossover

For fans of both the Star Trek and the Doctor Who franchises, the news from IDW Publishing regarding a crossover comic series should make them happy.

In May, a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover comic series will be released.

The series will feature The Doctor, Rory, Amy, Captain Picard, Will Riker, Data, Geordie LaForge, Worf, Deanna Troi and more.

This will be the first officially sanctioned crossover for the Doctor Who universe. Star Trek has had crossovers with X-Men and the Legion of Superheroes, the latter of which is still in progress.

Trek Videogame Wins Awards

The Star Trek videogame has won five awards at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3).

The game is due to be featured as the cover story in the current issue of GamePro, which is available on newsstands now.

A Star Trek-themed apartment battled a mold and fungus war which was caused by heat and humidity from another tenant’s apartment.

Trek fan Tony Alleyne had been fighting the unexplained mold and fungus without success until the police paid a visit to the apartment directly below his. “I had no idea what was causing it,” he said, “but there was mold in the bathroom and the transporter. It was a nightmare.”


Star Trek Coming to Redbox

Customers of Redbox, the dollar per night rental service, will soon be able to rent Paramount DVDs.

Paramount Home Entertainment Inc. (PHE) and Redbox Automated Retail, LLC (Redbox), announced that they have entered into a trial license program that will provide Redbox access to Paramount Pictures DVD releases through the end of 2009.


Cake Trek

Some Star Trek fans build intricate models of the Enterprise, but what about a model of the Enterprise that looks good and is edible?

As reported by Cake Wrecks, creative fans have designed cakes based on the various Star Trek TV shows or movies.

Amongst them is the Star Trek Enterprise 1701 refit cake created by brothers Edward and Antoni Frys of European Cake Gallery. Their Enterprise refit cake, seenhere, took days to make, with the support structure alone taking three days.

Fuller Wants New Star Trek Show

Former Star Trek Writer/Co-producer Bryan Fuller would like to create a new Star Trek series for television.

As reported by Den of Geek!, Fuller would like to return to the spirit of the original series. “I told my agent and told the people of J.J. Abrams‘s team I want to create another Star Trek series and have an idea that I’m kicking around. I would love to return to the spirit of the old series with the colors and attitude. I loved Voyager and Deep Space Nine, but they seem to have lost the ’60s fun and I would love to take it back to its origin. (more…)
