Star Trek: Online Executive Producer Craig Zinkievich posted his farewell letter on the official Star Trek: Online site today.
After seven years at Cryptic Studios and two-and-a-half working with Star Trek: Online, Zinkievich will be leaving to be replaced by Daniel Stahl.
Several new items for Star Trek Online players are now available in the Cryptic Store.
New items include ships, costume packs, members of alien races, and other lifeforms.
A new installment of Ask Cryptic, where questions from Star Trek: Online players are answered by the developers of the MMORPG game, has been posted.
Some of the questions include new ship tiers, mini-games, going beyond the Galactic Barrier, Exploration missions, missions on canon worlds such as Vulcan and Andoria, and Q.
The latest changes to the Star Trek: Online MMORPG are set forth in “Season One: Update Two.”
There are updates and changes in the following areas: Accolades, Squad Support, Quality Of Life Improvements and the C-Store.

Star Trek Online continues to be a work in progress, with improvements constantly being made, much of it in response to player comments.
Star Trek: Online players who would like to have input into which starship class they would like to see next in the MMORPG are encouraged to head to the official site and make their starship class preference known.
There are six classes from which to choose, all six from canon Star Trek. Players may choose from the following classes: Excelsior, Nebula, Oberth, Enterprise J, NX Enterprise and Ambassador.
The latest Star Trek: Online release notes have been posted and the update includes data on the Undine Terradome and Khitomer Accord STFs as well as improvements to Memory Alpha.
The Terradome is now available for players of Undine Terradome STF, where they will find that inside the Terradome, it is very similar to Deep Space Nine.
For former Star Trek: Online players and for those who have never played the game before, next weekend will provide an opportunity to play Star Trek: Online.
A Star Trek: Online “Welcome Back Weekend” will run from 10 A.M. on May 7 through 10 A.M. May 10 for returning players.
Star Trek: Online developer Cryptic has said that there will be no sequel to Star Trek: Online in the future.
The popular game will instead be updated as it is needed. “I’m not really sure it makes sense to create a sequel in the MMO market,” explained Craig Zinkievich, executive producer for Cryptic. “Typically, you see a MMO called a sequel because either a new team worked on the property or the original team wanted to reboot their IP.
“With Star Trek, the beauty is the story is never really finished, so as the IP continues to grow, so can we. Barring a new edition of our engine, I can’t really see us doing a sequel.”

The videos are Tips & Tricks – Cloaking, and Expanding Universe – Part 3. The latter video explains two STFs; Khitomer Accord and the forthcoming The Undine Terradome.
A new Special Task Force and the twenty-first installment of “Ask Cryptic” are the latest updates from Star Trek: Online.
“Khitomer Accord,” the latest Special Task Force, released this week, and promises continued battle against the Borg.
The Star Trek: Online Cryptic Store has been updated and two new starship classes have been added.
The new ships are:
The Sovereign class variant, Imperial class
and the Prometheus class variant, Hephaestus class.
Although Cryptic had hoped to bring Star Trek: Online to consoles, word has come today that the MMORPG will remain in the PC universe.
Star Trek: Online Executive Producer Craig Zinkievich said that it wasn’t a matter of not having the technology, as the game had already been set up and tested on consoles, but a matter of money.
“It’s pretty much in the same boat as the [Champions Online] console version right now,” said Zinkievich. “So, currently, just like Champions, the console version of Star Trek Online is on the back burner.”
Details on three future Star Trek: Online Special Task Force (STF) missions has been released.
Joining Infected and The Cure will be Khitomer Accord, Into the Hive and Children of Khan.
