Trek fans are in for a double treat, as the original series’ Walter Koenig and Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s LeVar Burton will be the guests appearing on Shatner’s Raw Nerve tonight.

According to the official website, “Emmy Award-winning actor and producer, LeVar Burton has a raw conversation with host William Shatner about race. Burton talks about his first and most powerful role in Roots, his infatuation with sci-fi and how his passion for teaching children has been achieved through Reading Rainbow.”

Burton’s episode airs at 10 PM this evening on the Bio Channel. A preview can be seen here.

Immediately after, at 10:30 PM, Koenig will be the guest on Shatner’s Raw Nerve. “Host William Shatner reunites with original Star Trek actor Walter Koenig for a heated conversation. The two actors reminisce about incidents that happened on the set and Koenig confronts Shatner on the reasons why the secondary actors of Star Trek have disliked him for the past thirty years.”

On Monday, February 28 at 10:30 PM on the Bio Channel, Golden Globe-winner Scott Bakula joins host William Shatner on Shatner’s Raw Nerve.

According to the promo for the show, “Shatner talks to Bakula about what it was like to break into the business at a young age, his time as a Broadway singer, and what an honor it was for him to play a role on the Star Trek: Enterprise series. Bakula speaks about his healthy lifestyle and how he’s implemented his philosophies into the raising of his sons.”

Season Three of Shatner’s Raw Nerve will include familiar television and movie personalities, including three of particular interest to Star Trek fans.

On January 31st, Shatner will be interviewing actress, comedienne, singer and dancer Carol Burnett in the first episode, which airs at 10 PM EST. Topics of discussion will include “Burnett’s rough upbringing in Hollywood, dealing with alcoholism in her family and how those life experiences shaped her career. Burnett speaks about her work as a playwright, how she was discovered and the passing of her daughter.”

Following that episode, Marilu Henner will be the guest who will share details about the “death of her parents, motherhood and healthy lifestyles. Henner also talks about a rare condition she has called hyperthymesia, which gives her a superior autobiographical memory.”

Three guest of interest who will appear in Season Three of Shatner’s Raw Nerve include Scott Bakula, LeVar Burton and Walter Koenig.

Other guests scheduled to appear in Season Three include: Rick Springfield, Florence Henderson, Penny Marshall, Carl Reiner, Jessalyn Gilsig, Kevin Pollak, Kevin Nealon and Ed Asner.

In a clip featuring an episode of Shatner’s Raw Nerve seen earlier this year, at first Simmons claims that he doesn’t “have any raw nerves to touch,” but he soon found out that that wasn’t the case.

“If you listen to the interview,” Simmons added, “I abide by my mother’s philosophy which is any day above ground is a good day.”

But a memory of his mother’s response to a government official hit a raw nerve. “I need for you to raise your right hand,” the official told his Hungarian-born mother, a survivor of the Holocaust, who was going to swear that she would not try to overthrow the government of her newly-adopted country. “And my mother, bless her, went like this,” said Simmons, making a Nazi salute, “because she didn’t know what he meant. He said, ‘You will never have to…,’” and with this Simmons paused, overcome with emotion, before continuing with his story. “‘You will never have to do that ever again.’”

While some celebrities are happy to appear on Shatner’s Raw Nerve, others brush off Shatner without saying “no” directly. “I’m well-acquainted with all the guises,” said Shatner. “‘I’d love to come on when my schedule allows,’ that kind of thing. They put you off and never quite say no.”

But once a guest does agree to appear on his show, Shatner has him sit on a specially-made couch where he is inches away from Shatner and sitting face-to-face with the former Captain Kirk. “I wanted to be on the edge of personal space that is shy of violating a person’s privacy but close enough to suggest intimacy,” Shatner explained. “I was trusting my intuition from my past [talk show] experience when I’d ask myself, why is this desk in between me and the person I’m talking to?”

The intimacy obviously works, but what if a person tells his story and then doesn’t want it to air, as happened recently with Regis Philbin? “We were talking away, and after he finished he said, ‘I don’t think I want you to tell that story,’ so I had to withdraw a story that was so beautiful and insightful,” said Shatner. “It would have been so good for Regis to allow me to use the story, to reveal another part of his heart. If I felt the same way I would want a host to honor my request, but I didn’t agree with Regis in this case.”

Shatner is known to have angered some of his Star Trek fellow actors in the past. When asked if he had mellowed out now, he said, “I really haven’t rubbed anyone the wrong way. I think you’re referring to some cast members from Star Trek. I’ve asked them numerous times to see if I can assuage their bitterness. I don’t know what their problem is, quite frankly, so I’ve given up on trying to make it better. I don’t like any ill-feeling, and if there was something I could do to correct it I would. But nothing seems to work.”

Shatner’s Raw Nerve airs Sundays on the Bio channel at 8 PM. This week’s guests will be Rush Limbaugh and Regis Philbin.

As reported by UGO, Shatner plans on asking Takei to appear on his show “as soon as we get gearing up,” and he couldn’t resist taunting his former co-worker.“This is hot off the presses,” Shatner told UGO. “This is exclusive. Even George doesn’t know yet, that’s how exclusive that is.”

Would Takei appear? Shatner wouldn’t say yes or no, but he assured UGO that he had no beef with Takei. “There are no scores on my part,” he said. “But his eyes glitter with a madness I don’t understand. And I’m glad you recognize that. So, I’ll deal with it, I have never had an axe. I will be anxious to put this all to bed. But, you know, what I would be most interested in is nothing of that [the "feud" between the two] kind.”
