Shatner To Make Canada Appearances

William Shatner will be appearing this fall in Edmonton and Winnipeg as part of a cross-country tour to talk about his career in a special show.

Shatner At The Captains L.A. Screening

Last week, William Shatner made an appearance at the EPIX TV The Captains documentary screening at the Hollywood Forever cemetery.

Fans appeared in Star Trek costume (no doubt startling any ghostly spirits wandering around the cemetery) to hear Shatner introduce the documentary, which debuted July 21st on EPIX.

New York The Captains Screening

For fans living in the New York area and wanting to share the experience of watching The Captains with other Trek fans, tomorrow evening will be their chance to join those other fans to watch the new William Shatner documentary.

EPIX will screen The Captains in New York slightly after sunset (around 8:15PM EDT on July 30) at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will be open for early arrivals at 6 PM and close at 11 PM.

“The first thousand people to attend in costume will receive a The Captains poster. Best costumes will receive The Captains t-shirt. The Captains buttons and EpixHD.com free trials providing access to over three thousand movies will be distributed to attendees.”

L.A. Outdoor Screening Of The Captains

For fans living in the Los Angeles area and wanting to share the experience of watching The Captains with other Trek fans in an outdoor venue, tonight will be their chance to do so.

EPIX will screen The Captains in Los Angeles slightly after sunset (around 8 PM Pacific Time) at the Hollywood Forever Memorial Park. The park will be open for early arrivals at 5 PM and close at 11 PM.

Comic-Con, Shatner And The Captains

Today is the biggest day of Shatnerpalooza, which begins with William Shatner‘s appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con along with Avery Brooks to present a preview of The Captains.

The Captains panel featuring Shatner and Brooks will be held at Comic-Con on Friday, July 22 in room 6BCF from 10:15-11:15 AM, where a “lively discussion and Q&A session will be moderated by Comic-Con fave Kevin Smith.”

Shatnerpalooza Kicks Off

Today, Shatnerpalooza kicks off on EPIX with the airing of four of the six original series Star Trek movies, plus six other movies and shows in which Shatner appeared, and William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet.

The movies begin at 6:00 AM with the airing of Star Trek VI: The Final Frontier and the day ends with the 10:30 PM airing of The Intruder.

Shatner Movies On Epix July 21-23

Beginning tomorrow, Epix will be showing the Shatnerpalooza movies, including William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet (Thursday at 8 PM and on Friday at 12:00 AM and 7:00 PM), and The Captains Documentary (Friday at 8 PM and Saturday at 3:15 AM).

Before and after William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet and The Captains, there will be a mix of Star Trek movies and the movies and shows in which Shatner appeared that were not Trek-related.

Eight Days Until The Captains Airs

The world television premiere of William Shatner‘s The Captains documentary is next Friday.

Photos, clips and interview excerpts are beginning to emerge ahead of next week’s Shatnerpalooza extravaganza, which will air on EPIX and kick off next Thursday with Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet. Koenig: Shatner Was No Patrick Stewart

Even though one might have assumed that the hatchet was buried when Walter Koenig appeared on Shatner’s Raw Nerve earlier this year, Koenig is still not a fan of William Shatner.

According to TrekMovie.com, while speaking to an audience at the London Comic Con held last weekend, Koenig revealed his lingering bitterness towards his fellow actor.

The Captains At Comic-Con

Another treat is in store for fans attending next month’s San Diego Comic-con, they will be able to get a preview of William Shatner‘s The Captains documentary and will also be able to participate in a question and answer session with Shatner.

For those not attending Comic-Con, The Captains makes its world premiere on July 22 at 8:00 P.M. EDT on EPIX and EpixHD.com. The showing will be part of “Shatnerpalooza,” which will also include William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet, the first six Star Trek movies and various movies and television show guest appearances featuring Shatner.

No Shatner in Star Trek 2

According to the man himself, William Shatner won’t be seen in next year’s Star Trek 2.

Answering a fan question at the Calgary Expo in Canada, Shatner admitted that he would again not be in a J.J. Abrams Trek film. “I’ve been an acquaintance of J.J.,” he said. “But I’m afraid no, no, I will not be in Star Trek 2.”

Shatner is still keeping busy though, with books, documentaries and guest appearances on TV shows. His new book, Shatner Rules: Your Key to Understanding the Shatnerverse and the World at Large, will release in October. The Shatner-produced The Captains will air next month and Shatner will be a guest star on an episode of the USA comedy Psych, where he will play a con man father of a detective.

William Shatner was one of six people nominated in one category for a 2011 Television Critics Association (TCA) award.

The 2011 TCA Awards “recognize outstanding television programming in the 2010-2011 season, honoring both actors and producers in a variety of categories including news and information, youth, drama and comedy achievements.” (more…)
