Saldana: No Dance, No Star Trek

Classical dance training helped lead Zoë Saldana to movie roles, including Star Trek XI.

Saldana, thirty-one-years old, took classical dance for eleven years and her classical dance training led to her first movie role as a ballet dancer in 2000′s Center Stage, a movie about twelve young dancers hoping to be chosen to join the American Ballet Company.

Saldana To Receive MaxMara Award

Saldana will be presented the Face of the Future award at the 2010 Women in Film fund-raising dinner and Crystal + Lucy Awards event on June 1.

Saldana In Negotiations For Colombiana

If all goes well, Zoë Saldana will be starring in Colombiana, a drama produced by Luc Besson.

Saldana is in talks for the starring role as a “stone-cold” assassin who is seeking revenge for the murder of her parents.

Trek stars Nominated For MTV Movie Awards

Nominated for his work in Star Trek XI, Pine will be competing in two categories; Biggest Badass Star and Best Breakout Star.

Saldana Makes Maxim Top 100 List

Zoë Saldana has not only made Maxim’s Top 100 Women for 2010 list, but she is listed amongst the top five.

Saldana comes in at #3 on the list, behind #2 Brooklyn Decker, and #1 Katy Perry.

Star Trek XII: Will Spock Dump Uhura?

One of the questions regarding  Star Trek XII concerns the Spock-Uhura romance and where, if anywhere, the romance will go.

Trek fans were surprised by the romance between the half-Vulcan Spock and human Uhura in Star Trek XI, and now they wonder what will happen now that Vulcans have become an endangered race.

Urban: With Trek For The Long Run

Karl Urban is ready to step into Doctor McCoy’s shoes again, and he wouldn’t mind if the Star Trek movies continue past the two sequels for which he has already signed.

Urban doesn’t know if Star Trek will continue past the third movie, but he’s open to more than two more Trek movies if the right people are involved in creating them.

Saldana: Hanging With The Guys

Star Trek Constellation Awards Nominations

The nominations for Canada’s fourth annual Constellation Awards have been announced, and Star Trek XI has been nominated in four different categories.

The Constellation Awards, honoring excellence in science-fiction film and television, announced their nominations last week in a televised announcement on G4 Canada’s EP Daily.

Saldana: Star Trek XI Pre-Production

According to Zoë Saldana (Uhura), Star Trek XII will begin pre-production this autumn.

When asked whether fans would see the sequel to Star Trek or the sequel to Avatar first, Saldana claimed that Trek would be first. “I think Star Trek,” she said. “Because that one’s already going into pre-production soon…From what I hear. Unless J.J., who’s always full of surprises…

Star Trek XI Wins Empire Award

On Sunday night, Star Trek XI collected yet another award, this one courtesy of the 2010 Jameson Empire Awards.

Nominated for three Empire awards; Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film, Best Director and Best Film; Star Trek XI won for best Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie.

Saldana Wants A Fight Scene In Trek

Zoë Saldana wants more than just an emotional or mental challenge in her acting roles.

Although Saldana enjoyed her work on Star Trek XI, she was a bit jealous that the men got all the good action scenes. “In Star Trek I had so much fun,” she said, “but the boys had all the action.

Saldana: The Challenge of Avatar

For Zoë Saldana, working in Avatar meant more than just learning her lines.

James Cameron‘s Avatar, a 3-D science fiction movie releases this week, and Saldana plays Neytiri, a blue-skinned alien warrior, a role for which she has been preparing since 2006.
