Star Trek: Renegades has one week to go in its Kickstarter fundraising drive and today news comes from the project that another familiar face will be joining the proposed film.

Star Trek: Renegades, a new production aimed at bringing Star Trek back to television, has begun production on a professionally-produced television pilot.
The show, which will feature familiar Star Trek actors as well as newcomers to the Trek world, claims to be “bold, edgy and a little dark.”
To help fund the second season of Bloomers, a web-based comedy directed by Star Trek: Voyager‘s Tim Russ, special perks are offered from a credit on the Bloomers website to an executive producer credit for the second season of the webseries.
Bloomers is about a diverse group of friends finding new ways to love, work and laugh in downtown Los Angeles.

Russ and fellow director Henryk Cymerman won Best Director of a Comedy at the Indie Soap Awards held in New York City last week.
If Tim Russ had his way, fans would see more of their favorites in the next Star Trek movie.
When asked in an interview what approach he would take for Star Trek XII, Russ said that the answer was to go forward, not backward in time. “I would do a parallel timeline,” said Russ, “go forward in sort of a renegade style.”
Although it took a while to get his career going again after his time on Star Trek: Voyager, Tim Russ is becoming recognizable to a new and a younger generation.
Even though working on a long-term series is good for the wallet, it can cause problems once the series ends. “I expected to go through a lull in my career after Voyager, as it’s not so much being on that particular show, but more that I was on TV at all,” said Russ. “Once you are ‘exposed’ for that amount of time on TV, you are out of the loop with casting people, etc.”
