Trek Actors In War Of The Worlds Fundraiser

In January, actors from all five of the Star Trek televised series will take part in a War of the Worlds fundraiser at the Acme Theater in Hollywood.

The one-night only performance will raise funds for Sci-Fest LA: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival.


Star Trek Online Adds More Voyager Actors

The actors will be heard later this fall in the Delta Rising storyline.


Russ Joins Star Trek Online

Star Trek: Voyager’s Tim Russ will be reprising his Tuvok role in a Star Trek Online feature episode.

Russ is not the first Trek actor to take on a role in the roleplaying game; recently Michael Dorn appeared in the Sphere of Influence feature episode, and both Leonard Nimoy and Denise Crosby have also done voice work for the game.

Russ Join Vitals

Star Trek: Voyager‘s Tim Russ has joined the cast of Vitals, a Saw-like horror film.

Russ will portray “The Surgeon,” in the film, which will also feature Charlene Amoia (How I Met Your Mother), Christopher Showerman (George of the Jungle 2), Claudia Wells (Back to the Future), and Sachin Metha (The Advocate). Marc Morgenstern will direct the film.


Hertzler Joins Star Trek: Renegades

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s J.G. Hertzler (Chancellor Martok) is the latest Star Trek actor to join Star Trek: Renegades.

If Tim Russ had his way, fans would see more of their favorites in the next Star Trek movie.

When asked in an interview what approach he would take for Star Trek XII, Russ said that the answer was to go forward, not backward in time. “I would do a parallel timeline,” said Russ, “go forward in sort of a renegade style.”

Although it took a while to get his career going again after his time on Star Trek: Voyager, Tim Russ is becoming recognizable to a new and a younger generation.

Even though working on a long-term series is good for the wallet, it can cause problems once the series ends. “I expected to go through a lull in my career after Voyager, as it’s not so much being on that particular show, but more that I was on TV at all,” said Russ. “Once you are ‘exposed’ for that amount of time on TV, you are out of the loop with casting people, etc.”

An old casting memo dated April 13, 1987 from Paramount shows the actors and actresses who might have been chosen to play the roles of Picard, Ryker and La Forge instead of Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes and LeVar Burton.
