Zachary Quinto sets the record straight about stepping away from Star Trek and science fiction-related projects for a few years.

After Quinto’s interview with Wired yesterday, as reported here, fans were left wondering if he was stepping away from the Star Trek sequel as well, or if the sequel was going to be delayed, so Quinto decided to explain what he meant by stepping away from Trek.

Quinto: Stepping Away From Trek For A While

Star Trek XI‘s Zachary Quinto will be away from the world of Star Trek and sci-fi for a few years.

Fans hoping to see Quinto at conventions or other Trek functions will be disappointed by his latest comments to Wired.com in a telephone interview recently. “I’m stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years, no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while.”

Quinto Talks Trek And Haiti Disaster

Star Trek XI‘s Zachary Quinto tweeted briefly about Star Trek XI, but his mind was more on the recent earthquake in Haiti and its victims.

A short tweet from Quinto confirmed the release date of Star Trek XI, saying, “The flag has been planted. June 29th, 2012. Sequel. Trek it out.”

Star Trek XI On BAFTA Long List

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced its long list of nominees for their 2010 awards and Star Trek XI has received ten nominations.

The first round of voting for BAFTA, the equivalent of the UK’s Oscars, has reduced a field of two-hundred-and-twenty films down to fifteen nominees in each category.

Star Trek XI And People’s Choice Awards

The Thirty-Sixth Annual People’s Choice Awards airs tonight, January 6, at 9:00 PM on CBS and Star Trek XI will be vying for several of the awards.

Fans of Star Trek XI will find out tonight if any of the five People’s Choice nominations for the movie will be chosen as winners.

Quinto Star Trek: Online Video

121709QuintoAtari and Cryptic have released a new trailer featuring Zachary Quinto, who has done voice work for Star Trek: Online, as well as details on Klingon gameplay and screenshots.

Quinto is shown doing some of his voice work. “My personality matrix combines qualities of more than twenty physicians, scientists and counselors, including Admiral Crusher at Starfleet Medical, Ambassador Spock,” he said. “I am, quite frankly, the most advanced piece of technology on this vessel.”

Finding The Right Spock

Getting the right actor to play Spock turned out to be surprisingly easy.

A short video on Zachary Quinto‘s website explained the casting of Quinto as Spock, from Quinto’s viewpoint as well as from the viewpoint of others like J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Burk and Leonard Nimoy.

“When he came in and read, he was just so perfect,” said Kurtzman. “He was undeniably perfect.”

Star Trek XI Collects Another Award

Star Trek XI was a winner at Monday night’s Hollywood Film Festival’s Hollywood Awards.

Started thirteen years ago, the Hollywood Awards are chosen based on “private, press, preview and festival screenings, as well as recommendations from a cross section of Hollywood professionals, including actors, agents, executives, directors, film critics, entertainment journalists, managers, producers, publicists, screenwriters and members of the guilds and societies.”

Quinto Selected For Award

Star Trek XI Scream 2009 Award Nominations

Spike TV announced the nominees for Scream 2009 and Star Trek XI led the pack with seventeen nominations.

The Fourth Annual Scream awards, honoring the best in science-fiction, fantasy, horror and comics, will be taped in Los Angeles on October 17 and will air on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 27 at 10 P.M.

Vegas Con: Three Spocks

Fans at the Las Vegas Star Trek convention last weekend saw triple when it came to a certain Vulcan.

As reported by TrekMovie.com, three different Spocks were on stage at the same time; Leonard Nimoy as the original Spock, Zachary Quinto as new Spock and a young Spock, Jacob Kogan, who portrayed Spock as a child in Star Trek XI.
