Pegg Tintin Trailer

A trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, in which Simon Pegg plays Detective Thompson, is now online.

In The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Tintin and his friends set off to find a treasure left behind by Tintin’s ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. Pegg and Nick Frost will play bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson.

Pegg Wins UK National Movie Award

Star Trek XI‘s Simon Pegg has picked up an award today at the UK National Movie Awards (NMA).

The award was in the Comedy category for Paul, which starred Pegg and Nick Frost.

Pegg: Paying Homage To Other Movies

Paul, Simon Pegg‘s newest movie about a pair of pair of sci-fi fans (Pegg and Nick Frost) headed to Comic-Con, contains plenty of references to other sci-fi franchises, including Star Trek.

The references are sure to please science fiction fans, but Pegg is also aware that trying to please everyone is a futile effort which often results in an inferior movie. “The trouble is that a lot of the time people try to just blanket appeal to everyone,” said Pegg, “and in doing so, the material just gets dumber and broader and things end up being bland because it’s obviously a desperate attempt to please everyone.”

Pegg: Trek Typecasting

For Simon Pegg, signing on with Star Trek meant facing the fact that it might lead to him being typecast.

When Pegg got the call for the role of Scotty, he had to think about whether taking the part would be good or harmful for his career. “I deliberated for a few days,” said Pegg. “J.J. [Abrams] just dropped it on me out of the blue. He kind of just emailed with it. I didn’t expect to get it.”

New Paul Trailer

Another trailer for Paul, the alien-UFO comedy adventure starring Star Trek XI‘s Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) has been released.

In Paul, Pegg and Frost are two British men visiting the U.S. in search of their favorite UFO landmarks, including Area 51. The duo meets up with a real alien, who has been stranded on Earth for the past sixty years and who wants to go home.

Star Trek XII Script Due In Soon

Roberto Orci has updated fans on the progress of the script for Star Trek XII.

“Aiming to turn in first full draft of Star Trek in six weeks or so,” Orci tweeted in response to one of his followers. Six weeks from Orci’s tweet puts the date around March 26.

And Simon Pegg, appearing recently on the Chris Moyles show (video at the referring source) , told the audience that he expected to be doing “Star Trek in August.”

Pegg To Voice Character In New Game

Simon Pegg, best-known to Star Trek fans as the new Scotty, will be voicing a character in Spare Parts, a new game developed by EA Bright Light for Xbox and PlayStation.

Pegg will be voicing the voice of supercomputer guide and companion Con-rad in the game, which focuses on two courageous robots.

Pegg Regrets Saying No To Tarantino

Had he made a different choice, Simon Pegg might have had a part in a movie which was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Pegg was offered the role of Lt. Archie Hicox in Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds as well as a role as Inspector Thompson in Steven Spielberg‘s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Pegg Talks Nerd Do Well And Trek Start Date

Starting with his Los Angeles life would have been boring, according to Pegg. “I realized quite early on that the most interesting stuff happened before everything kicked off, because that’s the most relatable stuff to talk about,” he said.

Pegg: Worry For The Arts

In these tough times, belts are being tightened and that includes the movie industry, both in the U.K. and in the U.S.

Pegg was not keen on one of the actions of the new government when it came to the film industry. “As soon as the coalition government got in,” he said, “the first thing they did was to start attacking the arts.”

Pegg Autobiography Launches

Star Trek XI‘s Scotty, Simon Pegg, is now an author with the release of his new autobiography, Nerd Do Well.

Pegg originally was going to focus on his adventures in the film industry, but decided to branch out. “I sort of had the opportunity to write a book and I was going to write something to do with the films, like a production diary and fill it with pictures of the movies,” he said. “But then that kind of felt a bit boring.”
