Although Locke & Key, produced by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, did not survive as a television series, a film trilogy is now in the works for the comic book adaptation.
In Locke & Key, the Locke family moves into Keyhouse, the Locke family mansion in Massachusetts, where the Locke children find supernatural keys that unlock doors in the house that transport them to different worlds and grant special powers.
Fans curious about the Locke & Key unsold pilot will have a chance to see it at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
IDW Publishing received permission from 20th Century Fox TV, the pilot’s producer, to show the pilot.
Locke & Key will be screened on July 22 at 10:30 A.M. in Room 8, and will be followed by a panel discussion in Room 9. The panel will include Joe Hill, Gabriel Rodriguez, Josh Friedman, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
According to an IDW ad, “This one-time-only screening of the entire pilot will show you just what a void there will be on your TVs this fall.”
Fox network has announced which shows it will keep for fall of 2011 and which shows have been axed and even though there were plenty of cancellations, J.J. Abrams‘ Alcatraz has survived the cuts.
Alcatraz joins three other new shows: The New Girl, I Hate My Daughter, and Finder, which will air this fall. Other shows which will appear on Fox include Terra Nova, Glee, Fringe and House.
Miranda Otto has been cast to star in Locke & Key, produced by Star Trek XI‘s Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
Locke & Key is based on Joe Hill‘s comic of the same name. In Locke & Key, Nina Locke (Otto) and her three children “survive an unspeakable horror and attempt to rebuild their lives at Keyhouse, their family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts.”
Back in February, TrekToday reported that Star Trek XI co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci would be working on an adaptation of Locke & Key and it was expected to be made into a movie.
An update to this news reveals that the adaptation will be a television project instead.
Star Trek XI Co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have added even more to their already full plates with word that they are taking on a product based on a comic series published by IDW Publishing.
The pair will work on an adaptation of Locke & Key, a comic series written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez. Locke & Key is set in the village of Lovecraft and is the story of the Locke family, who move to their estate (Keyhouse), after the murder of the head of the family by a deranged high school student.
