Trek Fans Wed At Vegas Trek Con

Star Trek fans Mark Restucci, 47, and Amy Campbell, 49, are the first Trek fans to ever tie the knot at the annual Official Star Trek Convention held in Las Vegas.

The couple was married August 1, in a ceremony that recreated the Next Generation wedding of Riker and Troi.


Vegas Fans Beat Guinness World Record

Fans attending Creation Entertainment’s Official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas last weekend broke the Guinness Book of World Records for most people in one place in Star Trek costumes.

The record was snatched away from Star Trek London, which set the record last year with 1,063 fans dressed up in Trek costumes.


Shatner Cancels Rhode Island Appearance

Star Trek conventions may no longer be “beneath” William Shatner, but a canceled appearance disappoints some Rhode Island fans.

As reported by Mojo’s Blog and the Providence Journal, Shatner canceled a scheduled appearance at the last minute via a “terse email” from his “personal handler,” obligating the Rhode Island International Film Festival to refund thousands of dollars of advance ticket sales.


Star Trek: The Experience To Reopen This May

Star Trek: The Experience has a new home and the reopening of the Star Trek-themed exhibit will coincide with the release of Star Trek XI.

As reported by Sci Fi Wire, a contract has been signed with CBS/Paramount that paves the way for the re-emergence of Star Trek: The Experience, which will open on May 8th. Star Trek: The Experience will be housed downtown in the Neonopolis Center.
