Locke & Key To Screen At San Diego Comic-Con

Fans curious about the Locke & Key unsold pilot will have a chance to see it at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

IDW Publishing received permission from 20th Century Fox TV, the pilot’s producer, to show the pilot.

Locke & Key will be screened on July 22 at 10:30 A.M. in Room 8, and will be followed by a panel discussion in Room 9. The panel will include Joe Hill, Gabriel Rodriguez, Josh Friedman, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

According to an IDW ad, “This one-time-only screening of the entire pilot will show you just what a void there will be on your TVs this fall.”

Star Trek 2 Shooting Schedule To Be Delayed?

First, word came that Star Trek 2 would be delayed and would probably not be released on its expected summer 2012 date, and now comes word that shooting the film will also start late.

TrekMovie.com spoke recently with writers Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who explained why it would be best to delay rather than put out an inferior product.

Trek Sequel Writers Give Progress Update

According to TrekMovie.com, fans attending the L.A. Times Hero Complex Film Fest received an update on Star Trek 2 courtesy of Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof.

The trio updated the audience on the progress of the sequel. “As of right now, there is kind of a seventy-five or eighty page half script, half…I don’t know what it is,” said Lindelof.

Major Networks Announce Fall Shows

More news on shows involving Star Trek actors, producers or writers has emerged from Hollywood, with some shows making the cut while others got the ax.

From the three big networks, first up is CBS, which announced that William Shatner‘s $#*! My Dad Says has been cancelled after airing eighteen episodes.

Fox: Abrams’ Show Yes, Kurtzman/Orci Show No

Fox network has announced which shows it will keep for fall of 2011 and which shows have been axed and even though there were plenty of cancellations, J.J. AbramsAlcatraz has survived the cuts.

Alcatraz joins three other new shows: The New Girl, I Hate My Daughter, and Finder, which will air this fall.  Other shows which will appear on Fox include Terra Nova, Glee, Fringe and House.

Meyer And Trek Team To Appear At Film Festival

Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan) and Star Trek XI’s Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof will be appearing at the 2011 Hero Complex Film Festival next month.

Meyer will be a director’s cut of the 1982 Wrath of Khan to the festival. Kurtzman, Orci and Lindelof will take the stage together and the topic of conversation will be Star Trek XI‘s success and the trio’s plans for Star Trek 2.

The 2011 Hero Complex Film Festival will take place June 9-12 at the Mann Chinese 6 in Hollywood. Tickets can be obtained here.

Fringe Renewed

In spite of recent low ratings, Fringe has been picked up for a fourth season.

Created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the sci-fi show, on which Leonard Nimoy has guest-starred, received an order for a full season.

Cowboys & Aliens Ad Debuts

One of the ads shown during last night’s Super Bowl was for Cowboys & Aliens, the Sci-fi/Western written by Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof and Roberto Orci.

Cowboys & Aliens, which will be released July 29, stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. In the movie, space invaders land in the Old West and the townspeople will have more to fear than the controlling Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford).

Kurtzman And Orci To Produce Card Novel Adaptation

The ever-busy Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have added another project to their schedule; they will be producers of a big screen adaptation of Orson Scott Card‘s novel Ender’s Game.

Orci tweeted about the project this weekend. “Ender’s Game!” said the Twitter entry. “Us (K/O), Oddlot and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?”

Ender’s Game is the story of Andrew “Ender” Wiggins, a boy chosen to attend Battle School, will he is to be trained to be a soldier to help defend the Earth against another invasion by the alien insectioid Formics (also known as the “Buggers”).

Pfeiffer Joins Welcome To People

Michelle Pfeiffer has signed to appear in Welcome to People, joining Chris Pine and others already cast in the film to be directed by Alex Kurtzman.

Welcome to People, scheduled to begin production next week, is the story of a struggling twenty-something man, played by Pine, who has to deal with family matters after the death of his estranged record producer father.

Pfeiffer will play the mother of Pine’s character.

Wilde Joins Welcome To People

Actress Olivia Wilde (House) joins Welcome to People, written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek XI), and Jody Lambert. The film will mark Kurtzman’s directorial debut.

Wilde joins Star Trek XI‘s Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks in the film, scheduled to begin production later this month in L.A.

Star Trek XII Writers Have Broken The Story

Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci gave an update on Star Trek XII, sharing their thought processes on writing the highly-anticipated sequel.

Writing a second story is different than writing a prequel, as now people have an idea of what to expect when it comes to the characters. “Well, we have broken the story, which is very exciting,” said Kurtzman. “I think one of the weird challenges that we’re facing on this one is that in many ways, with the first movie, I don’t think people knew what to expect, so when we were in the writing process, Bob and I really spent our time going to things that we loved about Trek and it was a very unfiltered process. It felt intimate and small.”

Orci: Mixing Westerns And Sci-Fi

Roberto Orci, one of the writers of Cowboys & Aliens, a combination Western/Alien-invasion movie, spoke about the difficulty of combining the Western and the Sci-Fi genres.

Several familiar Star Trek XI alumni wrote Cowboys & Aliens; Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof.

Otto To Star In Locke & Key

Miranda Otto has been cast to star in Locke & Key, produced by Star Trek XI‘s Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

Locke & Key is based on Joe Hill‘s comic of the same name. In Locke & Key, Nina Locke (Otto) and her three children “survive an unspeakable horror and attempt to rebuild their lives at Keyhouse, their family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts.”

Star Trek XII Script Almost Finished

Fans eager for the sequel to Star Trek XI will be pleased to hear that the script should be completed very soon.

Star Trek XII, written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

There is no word yet on whether J.J. Abrams will return as director, although Paramount would like him to return.

Star Trek XII will release in June of 2012.
