Fans of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan remember the scene where James T. Kirk screams out “KHHHHAAAAANNN!” after Khan informs him that he has marooned Kirk in the center of a dead planet and buried him alive.
Now, a fun fan activity tied in with EPIX’s Shatnerpalooza gives fans a chance to upload their own Khan screams.
The viral Shatner celebration is in progress and by heading to The Long Khan, fans can add their own video to the chain and contribute to the “longest Khan in history,” and can see what others have posted.
The Long Khan will run through August.

When interviewing Chris Pine for The Captains documentary, William Shatner came up with a unique way of putting the shy Pine at ease.
The Captains, a documentary on the actors who have played Star Trek captains over the years on the Star Trek televised series, includes Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula and Chris Pine.

Fans of the original series Gorn of Arena will be pleased to hear about the latest merchandise which features the green-skinned reptile.
The Gorn, sculpted by Jim Maddox, with paint masters by Jeff Camp, is a thirteen-inch tall statue sculpted in 1:6 scale.

Chris Pine has let Star Trek fans know a small bit about what will happen to James T. Kirk in the next Trek film. Plus – Pine and Zoë Saldana meet Luna director.
With production to gear up this summer, fans are eager for any snippet of news regarding the Star Trek sequel, and Pine provided a bit of that news courtesy of his Facebook page.

William Shatner provided the voiceover as Alexander Courage’s original series theme song woke up the crew of STS-133 Discovery this morning.
The Star Trek theme song received the second-highest number of votes in NASA’s “Space Rock” wake-up song public voting poll, in which fans chose from forty songs, with the two songs that received the highest number of votes to be played during STS-133 mission.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan may be almost thirty years old, but memorabilia from the movie still commands a high price.
Captain Kirk’s Star Trek uniform from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, sold several days ago at the Heritage Auction Galleries auction, ended up bringing in the second-highest price of the auction.

September will see the release of two new Star Trek comics, and in October, fans of Khan will see a new series based on Khan’s time on Ceti Alpha V.
The comics for September are Star Trek: Captain’s Log: Pike #1 and Star Trek: Burden of Knowledge #4. The new Khan comic will be called Khan: Ruling in Hell.

Star Trek fans visiting Madame Tussaud’s will now be able to see the wax figures of two Star Trek captains.
According to TrekMovie, the Picard figure, formerly in the Las Vegas Madame Tussaud’s, has been moved from there to the Hollywood location and placed in the same display as the Captain James T. Kirk wax figure.

Matt Damon was originally tapped to play the part of James T. Kirk’s father George.
At one point in time, Damon was rumored to have been the pick for playing James T. Kirk, but it turns out that the rumor was only partly correct, as Damon was approached by J.J. Abrams to play the role of George Kirk.

Details of a scene written for the possible inclusion of William Shatner in Star Trek XI have become available.
TrekMovie has posted a copy of a scene “Alternate Scene B” written for Shatner for Star Trek XI, which was written but never shown to Shatner. The scene did not violate the fact that Kirk died in Star Trek: Generations.

Co-writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci explained the reasoning behind Star Trek XI events that would be regarded as controversial by fans. (Spoilers)
As reported by MTV, one of the scenes provoking much discussion by fans is the destruction of Vulcan, one of the founding members of the Federation. “The scariest thing about [destroying Vulcan] was us having to pitch that to Leonard Nimoy,” explained Kurtzman. “‘Hi, I know we just met, but let me tell you about what happens to your home planet.’” (more…)

In addition to the mental demands of playing a character, there were also physical preparations for Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto to complete before they would be ready to step into their roles as Kirk and Spock.
As reported by The Cinema Source, Pine paid attention to the small details of Kirk, so that his portrayal of Kirk would be similar to that of William Shatner. “You watch the show, you know what Kirk does,” he said. “What resonated for me were certain physical things. There’s a way that he holds his body and moves about the deck of the ship that’s very, it’s almost theatrical, you see his kind of theatrical training in his gait and in the way he carries his body, in the way he sits in the chair.” (more…)
