On Monday, JumpCon Founder Shane Senter was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay restitution to victims of his failed JumpCon conventions.

Senter could have been looking at up to seven years in prison and a $4,000 fine for each of two counts of felony theft in addition to another two years of prison time and a $2,000 fine for the other two misdemeanor charges of deceptive business practices.

JumpCon founder Shane Senter was charged by the State of New Hampshire with violations of the New Hampshire Consumer Protection Act and two theft charges.

Last summer, Senter canceled the Boston JumpCon, as reported at TrekToday. “Many factors that needed to come together to make it happen simply did not,” Senter explained at the time. “We tried everything humanly possible and were unable to overcome the insurmountable obstacles.”

JumpCon fans have been left in the lurch as JumpCon founder Shane Senter has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, submitting the paperwork last Wednesday.

As reported by Airlock Alpha, this is the worst-case scenario for fans who pre-paid for tickets to attend the Boston JumpCon last July, which ended up being canceled. (more…)
