Star Trek IFT Fan Club Relaunches Today

After months of preparation, The International Federation of Trekkers has become The Federation, with the unveiling of a new website and Voyages, a Star Trek e-zine.

The International Federation of Trekkers (IFT) was launched in 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio, with the blessing and help of Gene Roddenberry, is now an international non-profit corporation. “This is a very exciting day for me,” said Russ Haslage, president of The Federation.


Takei Supports IFT In Voyages Interview

On June 15, The International Federation of Trekkers (IFT) will launch their new website, and part of their relaunch includes the premiere of Voyages, their official publication, as reported earlier here and here.

TrekToday received a sneak peek of the forthcoming issue, and one of the articles in the magazine features Star Trek‘s George Takei, who has a long association with the IFT, or the “Federation” as it is sometimes called.


New Trek Magazine To Debut

Federation Communicator magazine, the official publication of the International Federation of Trekkers, will debut in June.

According to a press release, the Federation Communicator “will focus on the extraordinary and diverse talent within the Federation (IFT), drawing attention to the accomplishments of its members, chapters and GEO commands, as well as presenting news from around the Star Trek universe.  Carrying forth its guiding principle — to spotlight the worthy accomplishments of those endeavoring to ‘live the dream’ — Communicator will blaze new trails in fan-based journalism.  With timely features, award-winning writing and beautiful, cutting-edge presentation, Communicator will help to re-define the very role of fandom and bring new attention to a worthy and history-making organization.”

IFT President and Co-founder Russ Haslage has named E.J. Haley as the managing editor and director of publications for the magazine.
