Hemsworth And Wife Expecting

The actor who played James T. Kirk’s father in Star Trek XI will become a father himself later this year.

Chris Hemsworth and actress wife Elsa Pataky (Fast Fives, Snakes on a Plane) were married in December of 2010.

The couple is “delighted and very excited,” said Pataky, and “having the person that you love by your side and starting a family with them is the best thing that can happen to you in this life. You can’t ask for more.”

This will be the first child for the couple, who have no children from previous relationships.

Hemsworth On BAFTA Short List

Star Trek XI‘s Chris Hemsworth (George Kirk) is a finalist for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) 2012 Orange Rising Star Award.

The others on the finalist list with Hemsworth include Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Adam Deacon (Casualty), Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn) and Tom Hiddleston (Thor).

Hemsworth Up For BAFTA Award

Star Trek XI‘s Chris Hemsworth (George Kirk) is on the initial list of nominees for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) 2012 Orange Rising Star Award.

Hemsworth joins seven others on the list of up-and-coming actors for 2012.

Hemsworth In Talks For Rush

Chris Hemsworth is in negotiations for the role of a race car driver in next year’s Rush.

Hemsworth has time in-between his Thor projects (a sequel to Thor, which was released in May, is due out summer of 2013) to take on new projects, and if all goes well, he will be seen as a British Formula One driver in Rush.

Hemsworth To Star In Thriller

Chris Hemsworth, Star Trek XI‘s George Kirk, will be starring in an original thriller to be produced by Tripp Vinson, Beau Flynn and Will Ward.

Hemsworth will be starring in Shadow Runner, which has just been picked up by Sony.

Hemsworth Married

Chris Hemsworth, best-known to Star Trek fans for portraying George Kirk, father of James T. Kirk, has married his longtime girlfriend, Elsa Pataky.

The Australian actor and his Spanish girlfriend were married over the Christmas holiday, according to a representative for Hemsworth. The wedding location was not revealed.

Pataky will be familiar to movie audiences for her role as Maria in 2006′s Snakes on a Plane, which starred Samuel L. Jackson.

Chris Hemsworth, best-known to Star Trek fans for his role as George Kirk, father of James T. Kirk, can be seen for the first time as Thor in a newly-released poster.

Like with the Star Trek reboot, those involved with Thor are hoping to draw in new fans. “You’ve got to look after the fans,” said Hemsworth, “but you’ve got to make the film appealing to audiences outside of the fan base too.”

Pine Heading For The Top

Chris Pine, Star Trek XI‘s Captain Kirk, is one of a handful of “hot, young Hollywood lights” who are on tap to replace old guard box office stars.

Pine, who can be seen on the cover of the second weekly edition of the Hollywood Reporter, is one of a new “A-list” which includes Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Renner, Shia LaBeouf, Taylor Kitsch, Sam Worthington and another Star Trek XI actor, Chris Hemsworth.

Hemsworth As Thor

Chris Hemsworth faces the challenge of being involved with Thor, which like Star Trek has a pre-existing fan base.

As with Star Trek, fans of Thor know what they like and Hemsworth is sensitive to that and is hoping to please the fans as well as help to tell a good story. “It’s a challenge,” said Hemsworth. “You walk into something which has a pre-existing fan base. People are very passionate about it and know what they want to see. As far as how you bring the excitement or challenge, a lot of that, the script comes along. That’s not my department. For me it was reading as much as the comic books and things that inspired me.”

The Breakthrough Awards, organized by the Australians In Film association, are designed to recognize the achievements of stars from Australia who are carving out careers in the American entertainment industry.

Abrams On Leading Man Hemsworth

When Chris Hemsworth was cast in the lead role in Thor, fans reserved judgment until they saw his performance as Captain George Kirk in Star Trek XI.

J.J. Abrams spoke about his good fortune in having landed Hemsworth. “It’s very exciting,” he said. “We really lucked out. He’s so crazy handsome and he’s so strapping with the classic leading man look. I sort of wish I had dirtied him up a little bit, messed his hair up a little bit.”
