Today is the premiere of Star Trek into Darkness in Germany, and some of the Star Trek actors took part in a photocall yesterday in Berlin ahead of the event.

The actors in attendance at the China Club in Berlin included Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon PeggZoë Saldana and Alice Eve.

For Alice Eve, getting ready to play Dr. Carol Marcus meant doing a bit of research.

Eve knows the backstory of the character. “She’s dug, dug into there,” said Eve. “Dr. Marcus is a weapons specialist with a PhD. She’s incredibly intelligent and highly qualified. In the canon, she has Kirk’s baby. In Wrath of Khan, she is the mother of his grown son.”

Eve To Narrate Trek Audionovel

Star Trek into Darkness guest star Alice Eve will be the voice of the Star Trek into Darkness audionovel.

Eve, who plays Carol Marcus in the movie, will read the audionovel; a seven CD set which will run eight hours and thirty minutes in length.

Abrams: Klingons And Carol Marcus

In an interview with MTV, J.J. Abrams spoke about Klingons in Star Trek into Darkness, and about the role of Carol Marcus in the movie.

Even though long-time fans know all about Klingons,  Abrams explained that those new to the franchise coming to see Star Trek into Darkness didn’t “need to know any preexisting stories to watch this film.”

Alice Eve was nervous at first when it came to joining a cast that knew each other from a previous film, but she was soon put at ease.

“It was nerve wracking,” she said. “Literally, I had to rock up in a room full of those people – Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, J.J. Abrams – and they all had this great rapport, and I had to walk in like the new girl.”

In an interview with, Star Trek 2 Co-writer Roberto Orci cleared up some information regarding some characters to appear on Star Trek 2 – well, perhaps.

Orci again debunked a rumor about the character to be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, and explained which characters played by actors new to the franchise would be portraying canon characters and which would not.

Star Trek 2 Newbies Doing Just Fine

With filming under way for Star Trek 2, two of the newcomers, Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve, are settling into their jobs, and a familiar face returns briefly to the Trek set.

While promoting his latest film, This Means War, Chris Pine spoke briefly about Cumberbatch and Eve. “They’re getting on great,” he said. “We have a really good, warm, inclusive group from the first one and I think everybody’s kind of getting the hang of things and fitting in quite nicely.”

Meanwhile, if his tweet today is any indication, Leonard Nimoy has made his visit to the Star Trek 2 set, as he announced that he would do last week. “Lots of hugs and handshakes,” said Nimoy. “Like being surrounded by family. So proud to be part of the Star Trek history. LLAP.”
