The Return of Ensign Sue!

Back in 2010, Ensign Sue Must Die, one of the funniest Star Trek comics to ever be published, kept fans entertained for weeks, and now a sequel to the adventures of the annoying ensign is currently running.

The first webcomic series featured Ensign Sue (Mary Amethyst Star Enoby Aiko Archer Picard Janeway Sue to be exact), a young medical officer who arrived on the USS Enterprise and drove Kirk and crew (J.J. Abrams version) crazy.

Star Trek Into Darkness Comic

In addition to an official novelization of Star Trek into Darkness (to be written by Alan Dean Foster), a prequel comic book will also be written.

The announcement of the prequel comic was made by IDW Publishing at the New York Comic-Con last weekend.

The photo above, featuring the cover of the prequel comic, was also released by IDW Publishing.

Tiptons Talk Trek/Who Crossover

When it comes to a crossover comic series featuring Star Trek: The Next Generation and Doctor Who, Scott and David Tipton are confident that the fans will embrace it with open arms.

When offered the project, the Tiptons didn’t hesitate to say yes. “…when [editor] Denton J. Tipton and [Editor-in-Chief] Chris Ryall from IDW came to us and asked if we had any ideas for a meeting between the two biggest and best science-fiction franchises of all time, what else could we say? We absolutely leapt at the chance,” said Scott. “Just a look at my resume tells you how big a Star Trek fan I am, but I’ve been watching Doctor Who all my life, as well. And the revived Doctor Who of the last few years has been, at least for my money, consistently the best drama on television.”

Star Trek Ongoing Comic #8

In April, fans will be able to buy issue #8 in the Star Trek ongoing comic series, featuring the crew from the rebooted Star Trek.

In Star Trek #8, Kirk and crew must “race against time to thwart a renegade Vulcan plot to destroy Romulus.”

Sarek of Vulcan, Spock’s father, will make a guest star appearance in Star Trek #8.

Written by Mike Johnson, Star Trek #8 will feature art by Joe Phillips, with a cover by Tim Bradstreet. There will be two variant covers, one a Bradstreet sketch cover, and one a photo cover.

Star Trek #8 will be thirty-two pages in length and cost $3.99.
