Star Trek Into Darkness Comic

In addition to an official novelization of Star Trek into Darkness (to be written by Alan Dean Foster), a prequel comic book will also be written.

The announcement of the prequel comic was made by IDW Publishing at the New York Comic-Con last weekend.

The photo above, featuring the cover of the prequel comic, was also released by IDW Publishing.

More details regarding the Star Trek: Into Darkness comic will be made available as they are released.

Fans waiting for issue #4 of the Star Trek TNG/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 comic series to be released tomorrow can see a preview of the issue now.

In Star Trek TNG/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 #4, the CyberBorg “continue to carve a swath of destruction across the galaxy,” but “the Federation is met with the possibility of assistance, but from an unthinkable source!” Captain Picard and the Doctor forge an alliance that may “be worse than the enemy they face.”

Tiptons Talk Trek/Who Crossover

When it comes to a crossover comic series featuring Star Trek: The Next Generation and Doctor Who, Scott and David Tipton are confident that the fans will embrace it with open arms.

When offered the project, the Tiptons didn’t hesitate to say yes. “…when [editor] Denton J. Tipton and [Editor-in-Chief] Chris Ryall from IDW came to us and asked if we had any ideas for a meeting between the two biggest and best science-fiction franchises of all time, what else could we say? We absolutely leapt at the chance,” said Scott. “Just a look at my resume tells you how big a Star Trek fan I am, but I’ve been watching Doctor Who all my life, as well. And the revived Doctor Who of the last few years has been, at least for my money, consistently the best drama on television.”

More Trek/Who Crossover Details

For those looking forward to more details regarding the IDW Publishing Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover comic series, a few new details regarding the project have emerged.

In May, the first officially sanctioned crossover for the Doctor Who universe will be published, featuring character from both Doctor Who and from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Star Trek Ongoing Comic #8

In April, fans will be able to buy issue #8 in the Star Trek ongoing comic series, featuring the crew from the rebooted Star Trek.

In Star Trek #8, Kirk and crew must “race against time to thwart a renegade Vulcan plot to destroy Romulus.”

Sarek of Vulcan, Spock’s father, will make a guest star appearance in Star Trek #8.

Written by Mike Johnson, Star Trek #8 will feature art by Joe Phillips, with a cover by Tim Bradstreet. There will be two variant covers, one a Bradstreet sketch cover, and one a photo cover.

Star Trek #8 will be thirty-two pages in length and cost $3.99.

Comic Review – Star Trek #5

Star Trek 100-Page Spectacular Preview

For Star Trek comic fans, a new release to hit stores tomorrow features four Star Trek stories.

The Star Trek 100-Page Spectacular was written by John Byrne, Scott Tipton, David Tipton and Stuart Moore. Artwork was created by Byrne, David Messina, Federica Manfredi and Mike Hawthorne, while the cover was created by Joe Corroney.

Star Trek #2 Comic To Release This Autumn

IDW Publishing has announced that the second issue of a new comic book series based on Star Trek XI‘s alternative timeline will soon follow issue #1, which debuts in September.

Star Trek #2 is billed as a “lead up to 2012′s eagerly awaited Star Trek sequel” and revisits an episode from the original series.
