Fans looking forward to the third installment of the Harold and Kumar series, with John Cho as Harold Lee, will be pleased to hear that the film may release this holiday season.

Plan calls for filming on A Very Harold & Kumar to begin in June. A director is still needed, and it is not known if Kal Penn (Kumar Patel) will be returning. Penn is currently in Washington, D.C., working for the Obama administration.

The story of Harold and Kumar will begin a few years after the second film and Harold and Kumar are not living together anymore. “”I think we catch up a little later in Harold and Kumar’s lives,” said Cho. “It takes place over the holiday season and I think this could be a legit holiday movie, which is a shocker. I think their intent is to sort of honor the traditions of the holiday movie style, that genre. I don’t know if they’ll stick to that. I don’t know how many rewrite are gonna happen, but from what I hear, they’re happy with the idea.”

Cho also spoke another of his movie roles, the Star Trek sequel, updating the status. “I still think they’re hammering out script ideas,” he said, admitting that he didn’t know who the villain would be. When asked if he has tried to pitch anything for Sulu in the sequel, he said, “No, I’m not ballsy enough.” But Cho was confident, given his role in the first movie, that his part would be satisfying.

Star Trek XI’s John Cho (Sulu) is excited about the new movie and has his own idea about what he would like to see in the sequel to J.J. Abrams’s blockbuster.

Cho acknowledged that Star Trek XII will appear in 2012 and although he doesn’t know any details on the movie yet, is confident that it will be good, no matter what the story is. “Those are clever cats they’ve got over there and I’m excited about what it will be,” he said. “Whether it will be something we’ve seen in the Star Trek universe, whether it will continue to go into new directions…it will be interesting. I think they must have locked down a concept or an idea because I heard there was a big meeting, but I haven’t seen them since and I haven’t heard where they’re going with it.”

What would Cho like to see in a new Star Trek movie? “I’d love to see Khan out there,” he said. “That would be badass.”

Cho reminisced about Star Trek XI and shared his memory of seeing it in a screening for the first time. “My big moment was when I saw the movie for the first time in a small theater screening room at Paramount with Chris Pine and Zach Quinto and the rest of the cast,” he said. “I can’t remember exactly who was there, I think Zoe [Saldana] was there. But we all saw it in a little room and we were going nuts; bananas. We were so excited about it, because it so exceeded our expectations at that point. And when I saw it, I just wasn’t worried about business. I thought, ‘This is the kind of movie that will be around for a long time.’ I just felt that it would perform well in the long run.”

Although J.J. Abrams hasn’t decided yet whether he will direct Star Trek XII, the thought of someone else doing so is unpalatable.

Last night, Paramount held a special event in celebration of the DVD and Blu-ray release of Star Trek XI and Abrams, Leonard Nimoy and John Cho spoke about their expectations for the sequel.

Abrams admitted that he doesn’t like the thought of someone else directing Star Trek XII. “The truth is, the idea of anyone else directing the next Star Trek film breaks my heart,” he said. “I had the most fun ever with these people. But, it’s impossible to know when the script is done. That’s the time to look at it and ask, ‘is this the right thing for the movie? Is it the right thing for me? My family?’ and all that stuff. It’s so hard to know a year out with no script in existence if I should direct the movie.”

John Cho (Sulu) would like to see his character go in a different direction this time. “This experience was very different for me as an actor because it was such an external thing for me,” he said. “I’ve never done a big action sequence and never trained like that. It might be fun to go internal this time. I don’t know what that might be.”

Cho joked around a bit when asked which villain he would like to see in Star Trek XII. He chose Khan, saying “He is the baddest of them all in my opinion and the coolest hair cut. I’m ready to bring that cut back for my own self.”

Leonard Nimoy doesn’t expect to return for the sequel. “They have Zachary Quinto,” he explained. “I was useful to make the bridge between the original and the new and that’s done…I think I served a purpose and I’m happy that I was in it…It’s not a question of whether I’d want to be [in Star Trek XII]. If I get a phone call I’ll answer the phone, but I’m not expecting that call to come.”

John Cho will have work for some time to come as FlashForward, the show on which he is currently appearing as Demetri Noh, has been granted a full season.

ABC announced that the show has been picked up for a full slate of twenty-two episodes. FlashForward has done very well, becoming the first show since 2004 to beat Survivor in the key adult 18-49 demographic.

FlashForward has led the pack when it comes to DVR usage. Over the first week, it was the number one show in DVR playback, gaining two million viewers as a result of that format. Other shows noted for their strong DVR playbacks are Lost (to which FlashForward is often compared) and The Office.

What will happen to John Cho’s role in FlashForward when it comes time to film Star Trek XII?

Cho, who plays FBI agent Demetri Noh, might have to face the possibility of a schedule conflict, but for now, he’s enjoying his new role. “You know for me as an actor it’s kind of a unique situation not knowing where the character is going,” he said. “Not having a full script. Typically in a movie you know how the movie ends, and you sort of map out your performance. This one we’re kind of winging it, because the actors don’t know what’s going on from episode to episode. It’s a very unique scenario, but it’s exciting.”

The show is drawing fans curious to see how characters on FlashForward react to having seen their own futures. Cho believes that Executive Producer David Goyer’s talents will keep the quality level of the show high. “I think we have a very uniquely gifted creator,” explained Cho. “David Goyer, he’s just an extraordinary mind. He’s a very unique person who’s incredibly well read, has an incredible breath of experience and knowledge. I think that will come to bear in a very fruitful way on this show. I just feel like it’s a full expression of his personality.”

But Cho may have a dilemma when it comes time to film Star Trek XII. He can’t be in two places at one time. “First of all, I don’t know when [Star Trek XII is] going, and if it’s going,” he explained. “I’m pretty sure it’s going, but I don’t know for sure, and I don’t know how long. I don’t know if my character will live on FlashForward. There’s a lot of question marks. The thing that I do know is that both sets of producers want the other project to happen. So you start from a place of good will. I’m pretty confident that we can work through whatever situation comes up. I think they feed one another.”

“Well, I don’t know if [Noh is] going to die, and it’s an issue,” said Cho. “In features, typically you know the ending, and you work from the ending. You know where the characters starts and where the character ends, and you’ve got to figure out a way to connect the two. I only know the beginning at this point. I was worried about playing that, although it sort of solved itself. It’s playing out very naturally, where we just sort of go with each development as it comes.”

FlashFoward airs Thursday nights at 8 PM on ABC.

Chris Pine Explains Kirk

2theadvocate.com, has posted a video of Chris Pine, where he talks about playing James T. Kirk.

“James Kirk is everything you’d want to be,” he said, listing all of Kirk’s personality traits. “The process of the movie is how is this guy going to take all of this disparate energies and kind of mold them into the form of a Captain?”

Smith a Pine Fan

Director Kevin Smith credits Star Trek XI’s success to Chris Pine, as reported by MTV, “I think what makes that movie work chiefly, aside from, of course, the talents who all came together behind it, is Chris Pine,” he said. “That dude is astounding. To be able to invoke Kirk without doing a Shatner impression? That performance was so electric and so wonderful to watch. That dude is an instant movie star. That dude is gonna work forever. He’s so good and effortless in his delivery”

Cho Talks Sulu

As reported by BlackBook, getting out of the bridge chair was satisfying for John Cho. “I was excited about that,” he said. “If I had one small complaint about the original series I wanted to see my man get out of the chair, beam down, mix it up and get into some tussles. That’s exactly what Sulu does in this movie, and I was really thrilled when I read it. It was a revelation.”

Cho had to learn some martial arts to prepare for his fight with some of Nero’s Romulans. “Ironically, I have spent my career trying to avoid martial arts parts because I thought that my time would be better served doing things that people didn’t expect from Asians,” he said. “Come to find I really enjoyed myself. I started from ground zero. I learned Tae Kwon Do. The stunt guys are brilliant. They really tailor our movements to our characters.”

Spock: Reflections

Spock: Reflections, a comics miniseries produced by IDW Publishing, will debut in July. This new series of comics is a follow-up to Star Trek: Countdown, but will be set prior to that series in the original timeline. Spock: Reflections will explain why Spock ended up on Romulus.

Several examples of artwork from the forthcoming comic have been posted at TrekNews.de.

Star Trek Parody Comic

Speaking of comics, a new parody comic series has begun at MotionPicturesComics.com.

Four of the Star Trek XI actors explained how they were initially attracted by the Star Trek XI script or their specific characters and what they did to prepare for their roles.

As reported by Firstshowing.net, Bruce Greenwood was attracted to taking on the role of Pike because of the problem his character faced. “Well he’s got this tremendous dilemma of having to…having an instinct about somebody who to all appearances is going to let him down but his gut is to follow his instinct in spite of the way the kid’s behaving,” said Greenwood. “So there’s a tremendous father-son dynamic to that dilemma. That’s what appealed to me.”Fun is what attracted Eric Bana (Nero.) “[Star Trek XI] had this kind of sense of fun, this element that it wasn’t taking itself too seriously which was really intriguing,” said Bana.

Once they signed on, it was a matter of learning about their characters. “This guy [Anton Yelchin] became a walking Star Trek encyclopedia,” said John Cho (Sulu.)

Yelchin actually obtained a Star Trek encyclopedia which he consulted frequently. “So I had that,” he explained.” I’d read that a lot and then I watched a lot of the original series.”

“It was like every day on set – he was like ‘Remember that one episode? Do you know that one episode with the’ … he was unbelievable,” said Cho.

John Cho was delighted when he realized that Sulu was going to be a character who was active and not afraid to get into a fight when necessary.

As reported by TrekMovie.com, Cho was both nervous and excited about his version of Sulu. “I was thrilled he was out of his chair and getting into the mix,” said Cho. “If I had one complaint about the old show, as an Asian-American, I wanted to see Sulu get involved a little more and kick some booty. And this is it, this is happening. I can’t believe I am fulfilling my own personal dream and having Sulu shaking it.”A challenge for Cho was training for the fight scenes. “I have never done action before so it was a completely different way of working for me, where I led with my body,” he said. “Strangely, that stunt work we did a couple of months prior informed everything else. I was surprised by that. That the way my body changed as a result of doing all that training, kind of made me a different person. I was like ‘I like this, I am going with this.’ It was a little like an Academy experience for us. It informed how I sat in the chair, how I attacked every line. It was surprisingly useful.”

Although Cho enjoyed the physical aspect of the character, what would he like to see Sulu do as a character if there is a sequel? “It was great to see Sulu do an external thing,
