Krige’s Borg Queen

Fourteen years ago today, Star Trek: First Contract was released and audiences were introduced to the Borg Queen, played by Alice Krige.

Krige found that the Star Trek: The Next Generation actors were a fun bunch who genuinely liked one another. “What pops is what a truly joyful experience it was,” she said about making First Contact. “They were like the best repertory theater, that cast. They hadn’t worked together, the Next Gen group, for about two years, I think, and they were really delighted to see each other and to work with each other again. It was just a ball. It was just flat-out fun from beginning to end for me. ”

Borg Queen Poster

A new Mondo poster, featuring artwork by Ken Taylor, will go on sale tomorrow and this poster features the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) from Star Trek: First Contact.

This Trek poster is the first Mondo poster to be taken from a Star Trek movie and not an original series episode.

New Star Trek: Online Video

A new Star Trek: Online video has been posted, featuring familiar settings and old foes.

Players of Star Trek: Online will explore space, returning to places seen before, such as the planet hosting the Guardian of Forever, as well as facing familiar foes, such as the Borg Queen.

Krige: The Queen WAS the Borg

Alice Krige (Borg Queen) came to the conclusion that the Borg were only an extension of the Borg Queen after reading Stephen Hawking.

As reported byStar Trek Magazine, her search for just who the Borg Queen was led Krige to Hawking’s A Brief History of Time. “I came to the conclusion that the Queen was the Borg. Is the Borg. The Borg is an extension of her,” explained Krige. “I had read A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking beforehand, and in the course of trying to find out who she was, I went out and got a copy of the video. Somewhere in it he says the old adage, ‘Energy is not created or destroyed.’ And I thought of the Borg Queen. She’s been around since the beginning of time, since the Big Bang or whatever. And she is the energy source behind the Borg. She is just the physical manifestation of that energy.” (more…)
