J.J. Abrams and the Star Trek XI cast say that the door is open for a sequel to Star Trek XI.
As reported by Slashfilm, Chris Pine (Kirk) believes that there are plenty of story opportunities available for a Star Trek XI sequel. “I think, um, you know J.J. and Bob and Alex and Damon and Brian everybody that’s behind it, I have complete faith in and they’ve clearly opened the door for myriad possibilities with the new kind of trick that they’ve played in our Kirk version, that I think, I mean god knows there’s plenty of places for it to go.” (more…)

Several new commercials are airing, each offering a few seconds of never-before seen material.
As reported by TrekMovie.com, the short commercials are mostly comprised of scenes that fans have viewed before, but the new commercials are worth viewing for the new bits, one of which shows damage on Vulcan.
Star Trek XI has premiered in both Russia and France with Star Trek XI Director J.J. Abrams and cast in attendance.

Some military personnel serving in Kuwait will get see the new Star Trek movie, with special guests in attendance for the screening.
As reported by the Air Force Times, about four hundred and forty soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines will be treated to a showing of Star Trek XI at the Reel Time Theater at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait this Saturday. (more…)

Eric Bana’s documentary film about his love affair with a 1974 Ford Falcon GT Coupe (Love the Beast) took a different turn when he wrapped his favorite car around a tree halfway through filming.
As reported by The Daily Telegraph, Bana, who will appear on the screen as Nero in Star Trek XI, was filming his documentary Love the Beast at the Targa Tasmania Rally in 2007 when he crashed his beloved car into a tree. Bana had been thinking more along the lines of a win, not a wreck, but he turned the mishap to his advantage. “Winning might have been more personally satisfying for me,” he explained, “but there’s no doubt that when I crashed the car, the director in me was quite thrilled about Act III.” (more…)
A shaved head and tattoos turned Eric Bana into a believable, menacing character.
As reported by NineMSN, J.J. Abrams was surprised at how Bana was transformed after a few cosmetic changes. “He had to shave his head, put on face tattoos, crazy ears and a huge wart,” said Abrams. “He just transformed. He did all these great things. To me, he became this character.” (more…)
