Although there is a movie script “in the works” for Quantum Leap, Scott Bakula is not involved with the project.
Bakula told fans attending last July’s Comic-Con that a script was supposedly being written by Quantum Leap Creator/Executive Producer Donald Bellisario for a new Quantum Leap film. His Quantum Leap fan-base loved the news, but it turns out that (so far) Bakula won’t be part of the new movie, if it is made.

It has been five years since Star Trek: Enterprise ended and Scott Bakula shares his opinion on what was good and what went wrong. Plus: Will a Quantum Leap movie happen?
In spite of Star Trek: Enterprise ending too soon, plus the ending which was more of a Star Trek: The Next Generation show, Bakula looks back fondly on his time as Captain Archer. “Oh, it was a fantastic experience,” he said. “I had a ball. We had some fantastically talented people on all sides of the camera. We had great actors, tremendously creative effects people and set people and makeup people and… It was fantastic. You were working with some of the most talented people and ground-breakers in the industry, and I got to do it for four years.”

Fans of Quantum Leap may again get to see Dr. Sam Beckett leaping through time and into strange bodies and situations.
At Comic-Con last weekend, Bakula told fans that a film may be in the works for the popular show, which aired from 1989-1993.
“It’s a great piece of TV history,” said Bakula. “[Beckett] is what I’m known for, and it’s a great show to be known for.”
A script is supposedly being written by Quantum Leap creator/executive producer Donald Bellisario.

Scott Bakula, currently starring on TNT’s Men of a Certain Age with Ray Romano and Andre Braugher, spoke about J.J. Abrams‘ Star Trek and his own contribution to the Star Trek legacy, as well as Quantum Leap‘s fan base and modern social media.
Even though his time on Star Trek: Enterprise is in the past, Bakula still feels that he is part of the ongoing Star Trek story. “You’re part of the lore and history of this forty-five year or so legacy. I don’t think there’ll ever be anything like it again and I have to say I’m honored to have been a part of it.’

Scott Bakula (Captain Archer) is a science fiction fan who finds it difficult to say “No” to science fiction roles.
“I look back now, it’s like, ‘How did I end up in all these science fiction things?,’” Bakula explained during an interview at the Toronto Film Festival. “And then I look back at the stuff that I loved when I was a kid, and the TV shows that I liked, and the books that I liked and Ray Bradbury, and all the things that I loved reading.”

The odds are slim for a Quantum Leap movie, says Scott Bakula, who played Sam Beckett for five seasons on the time-jumping show.
As reported by Sci Fi Wire, speaking to Quantum Leap fans at “Leap Back,” a convention held in North Hollywood, California last week, Bakula explained why a Quantum Leap movie is probably not in the cards. “I think each day it becomes slimmer and slimmer, certainly for Dean [Stockwell] and I to be a part of [a Quantum Leap movie,] said Bakula. “But I think [Series Creator Don Bellisario] simplified the situation. There are all kinds of rights issues that are looming and problematic. It’s not as simple as Don wants to get some money together and make the movie. …[But] you never know.” (more…)
