The Captains Close-Up

Five Trek Captains To Appear Together

For Star Trek fans in the UK, October will prove to be an exciting month as all five Star Trek television captains; William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula, will be appearing on the stage at Destination Star Trek London.

Destination Star Trek London organizers claim that their event will be the “first official Star Trek live event in the UK for ten years.”

Bakula: Star Trek Enterprise A Victim Of Circumstance

Scott Bakula, Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Captain Archer, has his own view on why Star Trek: Enterprise did not do as well as other Star Trek television series.

Over time, according to Bakula, Star Trek: Enterprise was improving, with the last season being its best. “”I felt like our show got better and better,” he said, “and the overwhelming conversations I’ve had with people are like, ‘Oh man, that last season was the greatest. You guys were just hitting your stride.’”

Bakula To Play Lead In New Comedy Pilot

Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Scott Bakula is set to take on a new lead role, in NBC’s Table For Three.

In Table For Three, Pen (Christine Wood), “a responsible, guarded, brilliant but emotionally challenged Harvard Medical School graduate who just returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders to discover that her beloved dentist dad, Robert, has become engaged to Pen’s high school classmate Holly (Nicky Whelan) – a 29-year-old bubbly blonde who happens to be the ‘mean girl’ in high school.”

Bakula will be playing Pen’s dentist father.

Table For Three is produced by 20th Century Fox and executive produced by Dana Klein and Aaron Kaplan. Klein is also writing Table For Three, which will be directed by Pam Fryman.

Bakula To Appear On Desperate Housewives

Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Scott Bakula has been cast in a recurring role on Desperate Housewives and will appear in the show’s final season.

Bakula will play Bree’s (Marcia Cross) “conservative, high-powered, straight-arrow attorney.” He will supposedly help Bree in her fight against a murder charge.

The eighth and final season of Desperate Housewives is currently airing.

Bakula To Appear In After Show With David Bedella

Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Scott Bakula will be the first guest in After Show with David Bedella.

After Show with David Bedella is a show that consists of “informal live interviews with television, film and stage personalities, as well as music performed by Bedella and his jazz trio. The evenings will be rounded off with an open mic session.”

Bakula will appear in the first show, which will take place at London’s Alley Cat Bar in Soho, on Thursday, October 13. The show runs from 10 PM to 3:30 AM.

Bakula Joins Terrible Advice

Scott Bakula, Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Captain Archer, will be appearing in Saul Rubinek‘s Terrible Advice, a play due to open next month.

In Terrible Advice, Stanley and Jake (Bakula) are best friends, as are Hedda and Delila. Jake loves Hedda and Stanley loves Delila and plans to marry her until Jake shares secrets and gives Jake some advice.

Terrible Advice will run from September 22 through November 12 at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. The official opening night is set for September 29. Ticket information can be found here.

Eight Days Until The Captains Airs

The world television premiere of William Shatner‘s The Captains documentary is next Friday.

Photos, clips and interview excerpts are beginning to emerge ahead of next week’s Shatnerpalooza extravaganza, which will air on EPIX and kick off next Thursday with Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet. Bakula Trek Radio Interview

Scott Bakula fans will be pleased to hear that the actor best-known as Dr. Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap and Captain Jonathan Archer on Star Trek: Enterprise will be interviewed on Trek Radio this week.

The versatile Bakula sings as well as act, and came from a musical family. His musical career began early; in the fourth grade, he started a rock band and wrote songs for that band.
