Shatner: My Lifetime Achievement Is My Marriage

William Shatner, at the Banff World Television Festival to receive a lifetime achievement award, showed a more serious side of himself.

Usually Shatner pokes fun at himself, or wisecracks when asked questions, but there is a more serious side to the actor and the Banff audience heard of his sometimes difficult journey through life.

Trek Composer McCarthy To Receive ASCAP Award

Dennis McCarthy, known to Star Trek fans for his musical composition work on Star Trek dating back to 1987, will be honored with the ASCAP Golden Note Award this summer.

McCarthy, whose association with Star Trek began with Star Trek: The Next Generation, also composed music for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise, for a total of almost two hundred and sixty episodes. McCarthy also composed music for 1994′s Star Trek: Generations.

Hemsworth Aussie Award

Chris Hemsworth, best known to Star Trek fans for his role in Star Trek XI as George Kirk, the father of James T. Kirk, is one of two Australian actors to win a Breakthrough Award.

The Breakthrough Awards, organized by the Australians In Film association, are designed to recognize the achievements of stars from Australia who are carving out careers in the American entertainment industry.

DeCandido Wins Prestigious IAMTW Award

The International Association of Media Tie-In Writers has announced the selection of their Grandmaster Award, their highest honor, and Keith R.A. DeCandido is this year’s recipient of the award.

As reported by IAMTW, DeCandido was recognized for his extensive and exceptional work in the tie-in field. He has written over thirty novels, most of which are either original tie-ins or novelizations, including stories set in the worlds of Star Trek, CSI:NY and Supernatural.

The Third Annual Scribes Awards ceremony will be held at Comic-Con in San Diego, which runs from July 23-29. The exact date and time of the award ceremony will be announced later.
