New Trek Set Photos

Several new photos have emerged from the Star Trek 2 shoot.

In addition, a crew member has revealed that shooting will end in Los Angeles this week, and will resume next week further north.

More Quinto Trek 2 Photos Emerge

Several more photos have appeared online featuring Zachary Quinto in the “volcano suit.”

The five photos feature Quinto and/or his double in front of a green screen hanging from wires, standing on firm ground, and sharing a laugh while at work.

Cho Joins Universal Comedy

Star Trek XI‘s John Cho and Clark Duke (Hot Tub Time Machine) has joined The Identity Thief, a Universal comedy.

The Identity Thief is the story of a family man (Jason Bateman) who “gets a life-lesson in stepping up when his identity is stolen by a mess of a woman (Melissa McCarthy).”

Eve On Prepping For Trek

Star Trek newcomer Alice Eve spoke recently about how long it takes to get ready for her filming day on Star Trek 2.

“I’m a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair, though not as long as Spock,” she said.

New Trek 2 Set Photo

Another photo has emerged from the Star Trek 2 movie set, this one featuring Zachary Quinto as Spock.

In the photo, Spock, in an environmental suit of some type, is dangling from several wires.

According to the description from On Location News, the photo features, “Zachary Quinto as Spo[c]k filming an action scene for the Untitled Star Trek 2 Sequel. After first rehearsing the scene with a Spo[c]k Stunt Double Actor Zachary Quinto was then rigged to a wire in front of a large green screen and lifted to a height of ten stories high then dropped at a high rate of speed as if he was falling. In the scene Spoc]k is wearing a ‘Volcano Suit’ and carrying an unknown piece of equipment with the Starfleet Emblem. A volcano is somehow involved in this scene. The crew had a real fire burning off camera to catch the fire reflections on Spo[c]k’s ‘Volcano Suit.’”

Yelchin The Photographer

Recently, Anton Yelchin was asked by Bullett Magazine to submit a photo essay inspired by youth and the results of that essay reveal what interests the actor about people and their growth from youth to adulthood.

There are some self-portraits in the collection, but Yelchin’s photos do not show the glamorous life that an actor might lead in Hollywood.

Kurtzman: Magnetic Cumberbatch & Crushing Star Trek

Star Trek 2‘s Alex Kurtzman is full of praise for J.J. Abrams, Star Trek 2 and newcomer Benedict Cumberbatch.

Set to play a “mysterious villain,” Cumberbatch is receiving high marks for his work thus far in Star Trek 2. “He’s incredible,” said Kurtzman. “What he does with language is incredible. His training is amazing and he’s so magnetic. He holds the screen in any size frame. He really is a joy to watch.”

Abrams Hides Star Trek 2 Set

Apparently annoyed with all of the recent set photos that have been released, Star Trek 2‘s J.J. Abrams has taken steps to stop future attempts to photograph Star Trek 2 production.

Abrams ordered the installation of thirty large shipping containers outside of his primary shooting location, according to Egotastic!. The thirty shipping containers have been strung together, blocking, for now, eager photographers.

Safe from prying eyes on the ground, perhaps the next photos will be taken from a rented helicopter.

Lindelof: When Trek 2 Production Will Wrap

In a short interview at WonderCon, Star Trek 2‘s Damon Lindelof spoke about his recent projects, including Star Trek 2.

Lindelof was asked about a Star Trek 2 presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, to be held July 12-15, and while answering, he revealed when production on Star Trek 2 would wrap.

Saldana in Swindle

Star Trek XI‘s Zoë Saldana will be joining Megan Fox (Transformers) in a new Paramount “action-heist” film, Swindle.

The pairing of Saldana and Fox came out of the desire of the two actresses to work together in a film.

Developed by Michael De Luca (Moneyball), Swindle was written by Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, and will be produced by De Luca, Saldana and Fox.

The storyline for Swindle is being kept secret for now.

This set features Zoë Saldana, Zachary Quinto, and John Cho.

There are five photos of Saldana, with her hair neatly drawn up into a bun; two of Cho; and one of Quinto, with Vulcan eyebrows and hairstyle

Saldana In Talks For Drama

Star Trek‘s Zoë Saldana is in early talks for a role on Scott Cooper‘s Out of the Furnace.

Out of the Furnace is the story of an ex-con who “must choose between his newfound freedom and avenging the death of his younger brother.” Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) has already signed up for the project.

Cumberbatch Reacts To Praise

After hearing what Chris Pine has to say about him, Benedict Cumberbatch had some praise of his own for Pine and the Star Trek cast.

Pine had told MTV that Cumberbatch was “fantastic,” and that he was “super talented.” He went on to say that “we are more than grateful to have him aboard [Star Trek 2].”
