Last night, one night ahead of the U.S. IMAX release of Star Trek into Darkness, the Hollywood premiere for the movie was held.
In attendance were: J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Bryan Burk, Michael Giacchino, Leonard Nimoy, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, Nanzeen Contractor, LeVar Burton, Rod Roddenberry, and Jennifer Morrison.
Star Trek into Darkness‘ Benedict Cumberbatch appeared Friday on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to promote the movie, and a clip of that interview is now available online.
“I’m really excited,” he told Fallon. “think [the movie]‘s going to be great.”
While the ladies of Star Trek into Darkness were concerned with slimming down for the movie, Chris Pine needed to add a few pounds.
Like Alice Eve, Pine turned to spinach to assist him in his weight goals.

Opening Star Trek into Darkness abroad first has proven to be a winning strategy for Paramount.
The film opened in seven international markets, including the U.K., Australia, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland (German-speaking section of the country), and Ireland.
Part of the fun of shooting Star Trek for John Cho was being in a different ship and sitting in “that chair.”
Cho has been a Trek fan since the days of Star Trek: The Next Generation and he got a real kick out of sitting in the captain’s chair.
Some of the filming on Star Trek into Darkness was so intense, that it made actor Simon Pegg physically ill.
J.J. Abrams preferred to have sets as real as possible, avoiding the use of CG whenever he could. So large sets were built on which to film.
Although the Star Trek into Darkness story got tense at times, the actors found lots of time for humor on the set.
“We do a lot of beaming in this film,” said Saldana, and that led to funny moments on the set.
Last night, MTV released a new clip from Star Trek into Darkness featuring Zachary Quinto, John Cho, and Zoe Saldana.
The clip was taken from the “volcano” scene part of the movie and contains some footage not seen before. Spoilers are in the clip.
In a new interview with Chris Pine, the actor spoke about Kirk’s development in this film and what he expects for Kirk in the next film.
Unlike the first film, where fans saw a cocky Kirk, the Kirk in this film has issues.
A new short video featuring Karl Urban (Dr. McCoy) has been posted at the Are You #THE1701? website.
Slightly more than a minute long, the video begins with a clip where McCoy and others are on the run from disgruntled natives of a planet.

With the opening of Star Trek into Darkness, the actors will be guests on quite a few shows in the next two weeks.
First up will be tonight, on MTV, where J.J. Abrams, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Benedict Cumberbatch will appear on MTV in “MTV First: Star Trek into Darkness.”
Karl Urban, Star Trek into Darkness‘ Doctor McCoy, explained what makes this film different than the first one, and what he really meant by a quote of his last summer regarding Benedict Cumberbatch, a quote that had set tongues wagging.
While the last film was setting up the characters, Star Trek into Darkness is about relationships, said Urban.
