Saldana in Swindle

Star Trek XI‘s Zoë Saldana will be joining Megan Fox (Transformers) in a new Paramount “action-heist” film, Swindle.

The pairing of Saldana and Fox came out of the desire of the two actresses to work together in a film.

Developed by Michael De Luca (Moneyball), Swindle was written by Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, and will be produced by De Luca, Saldana and Fox.

The storyline for Swindle is being kept secret for now.

Pegg To Guest Star On TNT Drama?

Star Trek XI’s Simon Pegg may guest star in the pilot of a new TNT drama.

The new drama, L.A. Noir, is a period drama about a cop working in “an era of rampant police corruption,” and would center on the 1940s-1950s “epic battle” between Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker (Neil McDonough) and boxer-turned-mobster Mickey Cohen.

If Pegg signs on for L.A. Noir, he would join Jon Bernthal (Walking Dead), McDonough and Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), who have already signed on for the project.

L.A. Noir will be written and directed by Frank Darabont (Walking Dead), who will also executive produce the series along with Michael De Luca (The Social Network) and Elliot Webb (TallTime Tales).

Hemsworth As Hunt In Rush

The first pictures from Rush have emerged showing Star Trek XI‘s Chris Hemsworth as racing legend James Hunt.

Rush is the story of a rivalry between James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) for Formula One circuit dominance in the 1970s.

Saldana In Talks For Drama

Star Trek‘s Zoë Saldana is in early talks for a role on Scott Cooper‘s Out of the Furnace.

Out of the Furnace is the story of an ex-con who “must choose between his newfound freedom and avenging the death of his younger brother.” Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) has already signed up for the project.

Quinto To Return To American Horror

Quinto will not be returning as Chad Warwick though, but as a totally new character.

Abrams Deal Extended

Paramount Pictures has extended its “first-look” deal with Star Trek‘s J.J. Abrams.

Abrams’ deal with Paramount began in 2006 and resulted in movies such as Mission: Impossible III, Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Cloverfield, Star Trek XI, Morning Glory, Super 8 and the forthcoming Star Trek 2.

Pine Sued By Former Agency

Chris Pine‘s former talent agency, SDB Partners, has filed a suit against the actor after being dropped via email in November.

SDB Partners took a chance on Pine back in 2002 when “nobody was willing to touch [him],” and helped the actor to land various roles including that of James T. Kirk on Star Trek XI.

Another Abrams Pilot Sells

Just days after the news that The CW picked up Shelter, a pilot produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, comes the news that another Abrams pilot has been picked up by another network.

This time, the network is NBC and the pilot is Revolution, a dramatic thriller, to be written by Abrams, Bryan Burk and Eric Kripke (Supernatural).

In Revolution, a “group of characters” is “struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.”

 

New Abrams/Burk Pilot Sold

A pilot produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk is one of three ordered by the The CW.

The pilots include the Abrams/Burk Shelter pilot, The Selection and Joey Dakota.

Shelter is “set in a historic New England summer resort where the new and returning staff attend to the practical, emotional and often comical needs of the guests while navigating friendships, rivalries and romances of their own.

Shelter, a Bad Robot Productions project, is written by Mark Schwahn (One Tree Hill) and executive produced by Schwahn, Abrams and Burk.

Nimoy To Visit Trek Set

Leonard Nimoy has been offered what most Star Trek fans would love to be given, an invitation to visit the Star Trek 2 set.

“I’ve been invited to visit the set of the new Star Trek film,” said Nimoy via his Twitter feed. “Hope to do that next week.”

Quinto As Chad Again?

If Zachary Quinto had his way, he would be returning to the second season of American Horror Story.

Quinto played Chad Warwick, the gay former owner of a spooky mansion, in four episodes of the first season of the new series.
In American Horror Story, the Harmon family (Dylan McDermott as Ben and Connie Britton as Vivien) moves from Boston to Los Angeles after a miscarriage and affair rock their family. But the mansion into which they move is anything but healing.

Pegg Trilogy To Be Completed?

If a Twitter posting by Writer/Director Edgar Wright and  Star Trek XI‘s Simon Pegg‘s blog picture today are to be believed, the two men have turned their attentions to The World’s End.

Pegg’s blog shows the two standing in front of a chart that says, “The World’s End,” while Wright’s Twitter picture show the same picture, with the caption, “Hard at work.”

The World’s End would complete a trilogy which began with 2004′s Shaun of the Dead and 2007′s Hot Fuzz.

Yelchin In Negotiations For Very Good Girls

Star Trek XI‘s Anton Yelchin is in final negotiations for a role in Naomi Foner‘s Very Good Girls.

Actresses Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen are also in negotiation for starring roles in Very Good Girls, which is due to begin filming this June.

Hemsworth And Wife Expecting

The actor who played James T. Kirk’s father in Star Trek XI will become a father himself later this year.

Chris Hemsworth and actress wife Elsa Pataky (Fast Fives, Snakes on a Plane) were married in December of 2010.

The couple is “delighted and very excited,” said Pataky, and “having the person that you love by your side and starting a family with them is the best thing that can happen to you in this life. You can’t ask for more.”

This will be the first child for the couple, who have no children from previous relationships.

Hemsworth On BAFTA Short List

Star Trek XI‘s Chris Hemsworth (George Kirk) is a finalist for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) 2012 Orange Rising Star Award.

The others on the finalist list with Hemsworth include Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Adam Deacon (Casualty), Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn) and Tom Hiddleston (Thor).
