Comic-Con, Shatner And The Captains

Today is the biggest day of Shatnerpalooza, which begins with William Shatner‘s appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con along with Avery Brooks to present a preview of The Captains.

The Captains panel featuring Shatner and Brooks will be held at Comic-Con on Friday, July 22 in room 6BCF from 10:15-11:15 AM, where a “lively discussion and Q&A session will be moderated by Comic-Con fave Kevin Smith.”

Shatner Movies On Epix July 21-23

Beginning tomorrow, Epix will be showing the Shatnerpalooza movies, including William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet (Thursday at 8 PM and on Friday at 12:00 AM and 7:00 PM), and The Captains Documentary (Friday at 8 PM and Saturday at 3:15 AM).

Before and after William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet and The Captains, there will be a mix of Star Trek movies and the movies and shows in which Shatner appeared that were not Trek-related.

Eight Days Until The Captains Airs

The world television premiere of William Shatner‘s The Captains documentary is next Friday.

Photos, clips and interview excerpts are beginning to emerge ahead of next week’s Shatnerpalooza extravaganza, which will air on EPIX and kick off next Thursday with Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet. An exclusive photo is shown here in a thumbnail-sized edition and the full-sized photo can be seen by clicking on that thumbnail.

Netflix Streaming Trek

Fans who wish to watch the various Star Trek series online can now do so for a nominal monthly fee, courtesy of Netflix.

Four of the five televised series are currently available. The only series not yet available, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, will be added in October.

July-August Conventions

There will be nine conventions, shows or appearances in July and August that feature actors of interest to Star Trek fans. This listing of conventions and shows features actors from all five of the televised series and several of the Star Trek movies.

July begins with Shore Leave 33, which will be held July 8-10 at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Maryland. In addition to the three Trek actors (John de Lancie, Sally Kellerman and Gary Lockwood), astronaut John Grunsfeld will be in attendance.

Montgomery: We Did Our Best

Fans were split when it came to Star Trek: Enterprise; some liked it and some did not, but as far as Anthony Montgomery was concerned, all that the actors on a show can do is to do their best work and not worry about what people say.

“As the actors, we take the scripts and we bring them to life to the absolute best of our abilities, and we leave it there,” said Montgomery.

Montgomery: Enterprise Ended Too Soon

Star Trek: Enterprise ended too soon for Anthony Montgomery, so fans never got to learn more about Travis Mayweather.

Like many of the actors on Enterprise, Montgomery was sad to see the series end, feeling that the show and his character had more potential that had not been explored.

June-July Star Trek Conventions

There will be thirteen conventions, shows or appearances in June and July that feature actors of interest to Star Trek fans. This listing of conventions and shows features actors from all five of the televised series and several of the Star Trek movies.

In June, ConCarolinas 2011 will take place at the Charlotte Hilton University Place, in Charlotte, North Carolina, from June 3-5. Star Trek: Enterprise‘s John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox) and Bonita Friedericy will be in attendance at Con Carolinas 2011.

Park: Enterprise Was Amazing Opportunity

For Linda Park, being offered the role of Hoshi Sato in Star Trek: Enterprise meant deciding whether to accept that part, or to fulfill a dream by taking a role in a play that was being performed in her home town.

Raised in San Jose, Park had been offered a role in Cyrano de Bergerac in 2001, but Hollywood beckoned. “I was fresh out of drama school, and I really didn’t know what the right thing to do was,” said Park “My agent said I was crazy. This was a TV gig, and I could always do a play.”

Keating To Marry

Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Dominic Keating will be hearing wedding bells later this year.

While working on 2009′s The Ninong, Keating met his future fiancée, actress Tam Nguyen, and the Trek actor proposed to her after a convention.

Keating: Enterprise Finale OK By Me

Unlike many fans and some of the actors associated with Star Trek: Enterprise, Dominic Keating liked the finale for the show.

And playing Reed was very satisfying for Keating. “…I was very happy with the workload I was given and the story arcs I had and the general fleshing-out of Malcolm,” he said. “I got just of the heavy work days to make me feel like I was earning a crust.”

Park To Appear In New Play

Star Trek: Enterprise‘s Linda Park will be appearing in Love in American Times, a new play to debut next month.

Park will be appearing with J. Michael Flynn, who is best-known to Star Trek fans for his guest roles on Star Trek: The Next Generation (Zayner in The Hunted) and Star Trek: Enterprise (Nijil in The Aenar, United and Babel One. Mazarite official in Fallen Hero).

Netflix Trek Streaming To Begin This Summer

There is good news for Star Trek fans today as word comes courtesy of TrekMovie that Star Trek will begin streaming on Netflix in just a few short months.

Back in February, TrekToday announced that a two-year deal had been struck between CBS Corporation and Netflix, Inc. to stream select TV shows from CBS’s library, including Star Trek episodes from all five televised series.

Bakula Trek Radio Interview

Scott Bakula fans will be pleased to hear that the actor best-known as Dr. Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap and Captain Jonathan Archer on Star Trek: Enterprise will be interviewed on Trek Radio this week.

The versatile Bakula sings as well as act, and came from a musical family. His musical career began early; in the fourth grade, he started a rock band and wrote songs for that band.
