Welsh Couple Ties The Knot, Trek Style

Two women, who met on an Internet forum that one had set up to discuss Star Trek, were recently married in a Star Trek-themed civil ceremony.

Fourteen years ago, Margaret Wood decided to create a place online to talk Trek. “We (Anita Bayliss and I) met because of Star Trek,” she explained. “About fourteen years ago I had set up a forum on the internet about the show and we started chatting through that.”

Star Trek: The Exhibition Heads To The Midwest

Star Trek: The Exhibition, last seen at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, will next be seen in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Exhibition will open at the St. Louis Science Center on October 28, and will run through May 22, 2012.

Trek Nation Documentary To Air In November

Rod Roddenberry‘s documentary, Trek Nation, will be airing on the Science Channel in November.

Trek Nation was produced and narrated by Roddenberry, who is the son of the late Gene and Majel Barrett Roddenberry. The documentary has been eight years in the making.

September-October Trek Conventions

There will be nine conventions, shows or appearances in August and September that feature actors of interest to Star Trek fans. This listing of conventions and shows features actors from all five of the televised series and several of the Star Trek movies.

In September, there will be five conventions of note. From September 2-6, Dragon*Con will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. In attendance at Dragon*Con will be: William Shatner, Garrett Wang, Christopher Lloyd, James Darren, Nicole de Boer, Gates McFadden, Robert Duncan McNeill, Kate Mulgrew, Brent Spiner, Wil Wheaton, Nana Visitor, Tony Todd and Trek author A.C. Crispin.

Trimble: Saving Star Trek

In a new interview, Bjo Trimble reveals who really was responsible for the “Save Star Trek” campaign.

A grassroots letter-writing campaign saved Star Trek after the show was due to be cancelled due to low ratings, and to those who knew Trimble, it should have been no surprise that she would fight for something important to her.

Trek Fan Proposal Endorsed By Trek Actor

A Star Trek fan proposed to his girlfriend last week, and a certain Star Trek: The Next Generation actor chimed in at the end with his response to the proposal.

Zach Muhn and his girlfriend Tabitha were at the Wizard World Chicago Comic Con last week when Muhn decided to pop the question. He dropped down onto his knees and proposed to her, beginning with “I love you so much,” and finishing with “Will you marry me?”

Kennedy Space Center: Sci-Fi Summer 2011

Three Star Trek-related attractions are being held at Kennedy Space Center this summer, including Star Trek: The Exhibition, Star Trek Live and the Star Trek Shuttlecraft Simulator Adventure.

StarTrek.com To Stream Convention Panels

Fans unable to attend The Official 45th Anniversary Las Vegas Star Trek Convention, which will be held from August 11-14, will be able to stream some of the panels and be able to participate via a live chat function for a modest cost.

According to the CBS Consumer Products press release, “CBS Consumer Products has joined forces with Creation Entertainment and Tvoop.com to live stream The Official 45th Anniversary Las Vegas Star Trek Convention on StarTrek.com, putting some of the series’ legendary stars into the homes of fans anywhere in the world.”

San Diego Comic-Con Trek Guests

For Star Trek fans attending the San Diego Comic-Con, there will be plenty of interest according to the official schedule released recently.

San Diego Comic-Con will take place July 21-24 at the San Diego Convention Center. The main Star Trek event of interest will be Epix Pictures: The Captains panel, which will be held from 10:15-11:15 on July 22 in room 6BCF.

New Whalen Patrick Stewart Convention Poster

Fans of Tom Whalen‘s art who have purchased a ticket for this autumn’s Vulcan Events to be held in the Orlando, Florida area, will also have the option of pre-ordering a new poster commemorating Sir Patrick Stewart‘s appearance at the convention. Whalen was the artist of Mondo’s most recent offering, the Let That Be Your Last Battlefield poster that debuted earlier today.

As is usually the case with the Mondo poster offerings, the Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, offered earlier today, sold out within an hour. That poster was artist Whalen’s second poster in the series; the first one was based on the original series Journey to Babel episode. The Stewart poster is expected to sell out quickly as well.

The Long Khan

Fans of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan remember the scene where James T. Kirk screams out “KHHHHAAAAANNN!” after Khan informs him that he has marooned Kirk in the center of a dead planet and buried him alive.

Now, a fun fan activity tied in with EPIX’s Shatnerpalooza gives fans a chance to upload their own Khan screams.

The viral Shatner celebration is in progress and by heading to The Long Khan, fans can add their own video to the chain and contribute to the “longest Khan in history,” and can see what others have posted.

The Long Khan will run through August.

New U.K. Television Show Casting For Sci-Fi Themed Wedding

A brand new series for Sky Living will offer two couples (U.K. residents only), with brilliant exciting ideas about their wedding day but not the budget to match, a sci-fi themed wedding.

The couples will receive £25,000 for their big day and all they have to do in return if chosen for the TV series is to “work in harmony together to plan an identical wedding day.”

July begins with Shore Leave 33, which will be held July 8-10 at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Maryland. In addition to the three Trek actors (John de Lancie, Sally Kellerman and Gary Lockwood), astronaut John Grunsfeld will be in attendance.
