Netflix To Keep Streaming Trek

CBS Corporation and Netflix, Inc. announced that they have extended a deal that gave Netflix access to select CBS library content, including Star Trek.

The original two-year deal was set to expire this year.

TNG Saturn Awards

The 39th Annual Saturn Awards were held several days ago, and Star Trek: The Next Generation and an actor from Star Trek: The Next Generation received awards.

A Saturn Award is the “official honor presented by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror films.”

Star Trek Into Darkness On FX

The FX Network has acquired the television rights to the recently-released Star Trek into Darkness.

In addition to Star Trek into Darkness, FX also has acquired the rights to The Purge, Fast & Furious 6, Man of Steel, This is the End, and The Internship.

Fans waiting to see the movies on television will have to wait for a bit though, as the films won’t be making their television debut until mid-to-late 2015.

Amazon LOVEFiLM To Air Trek Shows

UK and German Subscribers to Amazon’s LOVEFiLM are now able to watch the original series and Star Trek: Voyager.

LOVEFiLM has signed a multi-year licensing deal with CBS Studios International that permits the shows to be streamed on-demand.

The latest domestic box office figures are in, and Star Trek into Darkness is in eight place overall.

The movie earned $5,660,000 this weekend, for a grand total of $210,490,700.

Lindelof: The Leftovers

A new HBO drama pilot co-written by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta is based on what happens after the Rapture takes place.

Based on Perrotta’s book of the same name, the story will follow those left behind, in a world that will “never be the same.”

The latest domestic box office figures are in, and Star Trek into Darkness has crossed the $200,000,000 mark.

Star Trek into Darkness came in sixth this weekend, and fourth in total gross, behind Iron Man 3, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Fast and Furious 6.

Star Trek Acer Computer Auction

An auction later this month will feature an Acer Aspire R7 Limited Edition Notebook with a Star Trek logo on it.

Only twenty-five of these unique notebooks were ever produced and prior to this auction, none have ever been offered to the public.

Star Trek into Darkness has been out for three weeks now, and is tied for fourth place in earnings with Epic.

Third Place Star Trek

The figures are out and Star Trek into Darkness finished third at the theaters this weekend.

The movie earned $47,000,000 for the holiday weekend; just behind The Hangover Part II, which earned $51,214,000. The number one earner this weekend was Fast & Furious 6, which earned $120,000,000.

So far, Star Trek into Darkness has earned $155,827,300 in domestic markets.

Trek Takes Weekend Top Spot

Star Trek into Darkness did well this weekend, dethroning Iron Man 3 from the top spot.

However, the movie fell short of Paramount Pictures’ expectations for the domestic opening.

Star Trek Into Darkness Opening Figures

Last night, Star Trek into Darkness opened and grossed 3.3 million dollars in both the Wednesday night and midnight runs.

Most of that opening figure came from IMAX showings ($1.3 million).

The U.S. general release is today, and the movie is expected to post $100 million for its first four days, which would surpass the $75 million grossed by Star Trek (2009) in its debut.

The Challenge: Spock Vs. Spock

In a new Audi car commercial, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy try to outdo each other in various pursuits.

The pair best known for playing Spock begins with an online 3D chess match. Then it’s a race to the club, where they will play a round of golf, but the one who arrives first must buy lunch for the other.
