CBS And Netflix Ink Deal

CBS Corporation and Netflix, Inc. announced a two-year, non-exclusive licensing agreement that will enable Netflix users to stream select TV shows from CBS’s library, including Star Trek.

Netflix will begin offering the shows beginning in early April and the monthly cost for a subscription will be $7.99.

Star Trek Casino Game

A new casino online slot game, based on Star Trek XI, is currently in development.

The game, called Star Trek, can be seen at the International Casino Exhibition (ICE) 2011 which is being held from January 25-27 at London’s Earl Court Exhibition Centre.

Star Trek: The Exhibition Heads East Next Month

For fans in or within easy distance of Louisville, Kentucky, Star Trek: The Exhibition will open on January 23 at the Louisville Science Center.

Featuring original costumes, props from shows and movies, recreations of sets from all five Star Trek television series and eleven films, Star Trek: The Exhibition has something for any Star Trek fan.

November-December Star Trek Conventions

There will be six conventions, shows or appearances in November and December that feature Trek actors of interest to Star Trek fans. This listing of conventions and shows features actors from all five televised series, plus from the Star Trek movies, including guest actors.

In November, first there is a postponement to announce. Warp 10, due to be held Nov 5-7 in Northampton, U.K., will not be held until next September. The postponement is due to the unavailability of specific guests for the original date.

Best of Star Trek: The Next Generation To Boost Syfy

Looking to boost ratings, Syfy will air some of the best of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Tuesday nights.

On October 19th, The Next Generation will beginning airing at 7 PM, ahead of Syfy’s primetime Tuesday programming which includes Stargate: Universe and Caprica.

Urban Backs New Zealand Union

Union demand for better working conditions for actors has won the backing of Star Trek XI‘s Karl Urban.

Urban is backing the New Zealand Actors Equity, which has joined with Australian-based unions such as the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) in calling for a boycott of Sir Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit movies.

Special Price Offer For Shakespeare In Klingon

Star Trek Klingon and Shakespeare fans who wanted to see the Washington Shakespeare Company’s production of By Any Other Name: An Evening of Shakespeare in Klingon, but who balked at paying $150-$250, will be happy to hear of a new special discount price.

The production, which will feature selections from Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing, will take place this Saturday, September 25 at 8 pm.

Trek Wins DVD Critics Award

The Sixth Annual DVD Critics Awards were held recently and Star Trek XI came away with a top award.

The DVD Critics Awards, presented by Home Media Magazine, are chosen from titles submitted by studios and judged by a panel that consists of journalists, reviewers and industry writers.

Star Trek Comic-Con Promotional Items

Comic-Con in San Diego begins tomorrow and there are plenty of Star Trek items of interest for fans.

According to a CBS Consumer Products press release, eleven different booths will feature items including watches, buttons, cologne, ornaments, books, artwork, props, replicas, novelty features, costumes, postcards and bookmarks.

VSS Enterprise Reaches The Stratosphere

Virgin Galactic’s VSS Enterprise, named after Star Trek‘s USS Enterprise, successfully reached the stratosphere in a test flight.

The VSS Enterprise is carried by a mothership, the WhiteKnightTwo (VMS Eve) and on this test flight, remained attached to the VMS Eve.

StarTrek.Com Solicits Fan Input

In a conference call with CBS Consumer Products, more information was given concerning today’s relaunch of StarTrek.com and plans for its future.

StarTrek.com wants fan to help shape StarTrek.com, as the site evolves over time. Released in beta, the website is expected to change in the near future, with plenty of updates and new content.

Star Trek Saturn Award Winners

Last night was the 39th Annual Saturn Awards and while Avatar dominated, winning ten Saturn Awards, Star Trek didn’t leave totally empty-handed.

Star Trek XI was represented in the awards with a win in the Best Make-up collection, the award going to Barney Burman, Mindy Hall and Jean Harlow for their work on the movie.

Trek Wins Hollywood Reporter Key Art Awards

The Hollywood Reporter’s 39th annual Key Art Awards were given out on Friday night, and Star Trek won three of the Key Art Awards.

The Key Art Awards honor the best in movie marketing. There were eleven categories with each category offering, in addition to separate winners in sub-categories, an overall “Best in Show” award.
