In his new book, Shatner Rules: Your Guide to Understanding the Shatnerverse and the World at Large, it’s Shatner’s turn to attack Takei.

Dayton Ward, co-author of Vanguard: What Judgments Come, talks about this first part of the finale to the Vanguard series and the approaching end of the Vanguard series.
Vanguard: What Judgments Come (due out next week) and Vanguard: Storming Heaven (due out next March) will complete the Vanguard series and that was always the plan. “…David Mack, Kevin (Dilmore) and I are getting to do something that’s never really been done before: bring to a planned conclusion one of the novel spin-off series,” said Ward. “From the start, Vanguard has had a definitive endgame in mind, though specific details about how to get there were always left nebulous.”

Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s LeVar Burton has announced the launch of “RRKidz, a breakthrough reading, discovery and exploration platform that motivates today’s kids to experience literature via the digital devices they love.”
Burton was the producer and the host of PBS’s award-winning Reading Rainbow, which ran from 1983 until 2006.

Online Star Trek RPGs and writing fan fiction were the start of a writing career for Mollmann and Schuster.

Anthony Montgomery, best-known to Star Trek: Enterprise fans as Travis Mayweather; acts, sings and has written a graphic novel.
Star Trek: Enterprise was not only regular work for Montgomery, but it made him more visible in Hollywood. “It was a great time! That was obviously my real big break,” he said. “Because of the legacy that the Star Trek franchise has, it changed everything for me; it completely changed the game for me.”

IDW Publishing has announced that the second issue of a new comic book series based on Star Trek XI‘s alternative timeline will soon follow issue #1, which debuts in September.
Star Trek #2 is billed as a “lead up to 2012′s eagerly awaited Star Trek sequel” and revisits an episode from the original series.

Star Trek author Greg Cox is in the midst of writing a new original series novel, The Rings of Time, which will revisit the son of a familiar character from Tomorrow is Yesterday.
In Tomorrow is Yesterday, a human from the 1960s aboard the Enterprise after the destruction of his military aircraft needs to be returned to Earth in spite of his glimpse of the future, because his son Colonel Shaun Geoffrey Christopher, not yet born, will head the first Earth-Saturn Mission.

Indistinguishable from Magic was released several weeks ago and author David A. McIntee shares his thoughts on his latest Star Trek: The Next Generation book.
The main character in Indistinguishable from Magic is Geordi La Forge, according to McIntee. “Geordi is, I guess, pretty much the lead,” said McIntee. “In fact the original pitch was just about him, and the others were added when CBS asked to have a few other familiar faces in it.”

The author of several Star Trek books, Ann Crispin found that her knowledge of Star Trek acquired from being a fan of the original series came in handy when it came to writing Trek tie-in stories.
“I was a Star Trek fan from the early days of the show,” Crispin explained. “I’d watched all of the episodes many times. I had read many of the novels and all of the James Blish novelizations. So I knew Star Trek inside and out when I wrote Yesterday’s Son on a whim.”
