Star Trek Beyond Oscar Nomination

The 2017 Oscar nominations are out and Star Trek Beyond is up for one of the golden statuettes.

Star Trek Beyond was nominated in the “Best Makeup & Hairstyling” category. It is up against A Man Called Ove and Suicide Squad.

This is not the first Oscar nomination for Star Trek. Six movies have been nominated, for a total of fifteen nominations in all including one win.

The other nominations were:

  • Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 1987 Sound Effects Editing
  • Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 1992 Makeup
  • Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 1992 Sound Effects Editing
  • Star Trek: First Contact 1997 Makeup
  • Star Trek (2009) 2010 Best Achievement in Makeup – WINNER
  • Star Trek (2009) 2010 Best Achievement in Sound Editing
  • Star Trek (2009) 2010 Best Achievement in Sound Mixing
  • Star Trek (2009) 2010 Best Achievement in Visual Effects
  • Star Trek into Darkness 2014 Best Achievement in Visual Effects

The 89th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place this year on February 26.
