1 min read

Miguel Ferrer, best-known to Trek fans for his role in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, is dead at the age of sixty-one.

The cause of death was throat cancer.

Born in Santa Monica California, Ferrer was the son of 1950s singer Rosemary Clooney and actor Jose Ferrer. He was first cousin to actor George Clooney .

Ferrer appeared in many films and movies, including NCIS: Los Angeles, Crossing Jordan, RoboCop, Iron Man 3, Twin Peaks, Bionic Woman and Desperate Housewives.

“Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer,” said George Clooney. “But not lost to his family. Miguel made the world brighter and funnier, and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day, (monumental events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will.”

Ferrer appeared in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock as the executive officer of the USS Excelsior.

The actor is survived by his wife, Lori, and his sons, Lukas and Rafi.
