Star Trek Beyond Slips In China

1 min read

Star Trek Beyond continues to lead in the Chinese movie box office but the second week brought in much less than the opening week, as was the case in the U.S.

Last week, the movie opened in China and raked in $33.3 million dollars. This week, earnings dropped down to $11.3 million dollars.

Projected to make around $200 million originally, Star Trek Beyond is currently sitting at $318 million dollars, with about half coming from domestic box office and the rest from overseas box office, including China. The Chinese box office is more than double that of any other overseas country, with the UK next with $20 million dollars in earnings. To break even, the movie needs to earn approximately $350 million worldwide.
