Yelchin Passes

1 min read

In a bit of rather shocking news, Anton Yelchin, best-known to Trek fans for his role as Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek movies, has died at the age of twenty-seven.

The actor died in a freak car accident.

According to TMZ, friends became concerned when Yelchin didn’t meet them for a rehearsal and went to his San Fernando Valley home, late last night, where they found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox which was attached to a security gate. The car, on a steep driveway, was in neutral and the engine was still running.

Yelchin’s representative Jennifer Allen confirmed the death. “Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in a fatal traffic collision early this morning,” she said. “His family requests you respect their privacy at this time.”

The only child of Russian professional figure skaters, Yelchin moved with his parents to the US when he was a baby. He has worked steadily in acting since he was ten years old.
