1 min read

Larry Drake, best-known for his role of Benny Stulwicz, a mentally-challenged law clerk, on L.A. Law, is dead at the age of sixty-six.

Drake was also known to Trek fans as Chellick on the Star Trek: Voyager episode Critical Care. Chellick was an administrator on a hospital ship who had to make life and death decisions, based on the social status of the patients.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Drake was a regular on 1998s sci-fi TV show Prey as well as L.A. Law. He also appeared on Six Feet Under, Crossing Jordan, and 7th Heaven.

Movies in which Drake appeared were 1990s Darkman, Bean, and American Pie 2.

Drake also voiced the role of Pops in The Cartoon Network‘s Johnny Bravo.

“Larry Drake was a gentle and kind soul who loved the students he was teaching acting to with Stephen Brook,” said Drake’s manager Steven Siebert. “It was a newfound love and he was grateful for the career he had on television, in films and on stage. He was optimistic about the future and had many pastimes including baseball. We will always remember Larry for his big heart!”
