Star Trek #48 – Five Year Mission will debut tomorrow, but fans can have a sneak peek today.

In this IDW Publishing comic, the first part of a two-part story, Deity, will be featured.

In Deity, the Enterprise crew “discovers an uncharted world whose inhabitants worship vengeful gods…gods who now turn their wrath on Captain Kirk and his crew.”

Star Trek #48 was written by Mike Johnson, with art and cover by Tony Shasteen.

The thirty-two page issue will sell for $3.99.

There is no reason these comics need to be drawn to look like the “modern” cast, when artistically they could all look like they are supposed to (ie, original actors in modern stories), since in-universe they are supposed to be genetically the same people…. thats not my Sulu, or my Uhura…. the comics look interesting, and seeing an alternate timeline unfold could be fun, but the visuals are too jarring. I’m just talking about the actual facial structures here.
