Stuntman Hice Passes

Actor/Stuntman Eddie Hice is dead at the age of eighty-five.

Hice is known to original series fans for his appearances in several episodes and in one original series movie.

Born in 1930, Hice appeared in shows such as Bonanza, Have Gun – Will Travel, Gunsmoke, Star Trek, Get Smart and Bret Maverick. His stunt career dates back to the mid-1960s, and his work included all of the Planet of the Apes films, RoboCop 2, The Beastmaster, A View to a Kill and more.

Trek fans will remember him as a security officer in both Day of the Dove, and Wink of an Eye. He also appeared in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home as a patient in the hospital to which Chekov was taken after he was injured.

Performing stunts is a Hice family tradition; his son Freddie and grandchildren Cassidy and Dylan are also in the profession.

Married for thirty-five years, in addition to his children and grandchildren, Hice leaves behind his wife Dianne.

  1. We can make peace with Klingons if common cause is there. But most of the crew of the USS Enterprise have died and we can do little about it but follow Shatner to the final frontier.
